Cigna, a leading Health Services company, is looking for an exceptional Back end and API engineer in our Provider Engineering organization. This position is responsible for the delivery of a business need starting from understanding the requirements to deploying the software into production. This role requires you to be fluent in some of the critical technologies with proficiency in others, with a very strong analytical aptitude and have a hunger to learn on the job, understand data and add value to the business. Critical attributes of being a Back End Engineer, among others, is ownership, eagerness to learn & an open mindset. In addition to delivery, the role demands having an automation first and continuous improvement mindset. The candidate should drive the adoption of CI/CD tools and support the improvement of the tools sets/processes. improvement of the tools sets/processes. Seeking a senior Software Engineering Advisor with strong experience in designing and developing scalable RESTful APIs, event-driven services
distributed applications in a cloud-native environment. The ideal candidate should have hands-on expertise in Java, Node, Python, SQL, AWS, NoSQL databases
modern engineering practices, along with experience in CI/CD, monitoring, testing frameworks
agile delivery. Strong knowledge of enterprise security, including IAM, Auth0/Okta, encryption, API gateways
private cloud concepts, is expected. Experience with Kafka, S3, Git, Jenkins/Terraform, Splunk, Dynatrace
CloudWatch will be valuable. Preferred skills include Angular/React, SSO using SAML/OpenID, search platforms such as Elasticsearch/OpenSearch
architecting highly available, secure distributed systems. Roles & Responsibilities
Candidates will need to have experience with medium to large-scale web development.
Ability to develop within “full” technology stack
Be part of a fast-moving team, working with the latest tools and open-source technologies
Design and develop our next generation of RESTful APIs and Event driven services in a distributed environment
Use advanced, distributed technologies to process, store, and quickly retrieve huge volumes of data
Work with a development team using agile methodologies Required Skills:
Strong API development using Java , Node , and Python programming languages.
Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript, Typescript
Solid understanding of OOP, Design Patterns, Data Structures and Web Standards
Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and related frameworks
Strong understanding of parallel processing, concurrency and asynchronous concepts
Strong experience with Event Driven Architecture (preferred), like Kafka
Experience with developing RESTful web services
Strong experience with enterprise level N-tier web applications
Experienced with NoSQL Databases – DynamoDb/ MongoDB/ Cassandra
Experience in writing native SQL queries
Strong experience with cloud infrastructure AWS (preferred)
Experience with Application Monitoring Tools ( Splunk, Dynatrace , Cloudwatch etc.)
Experience with enterprise security Including IAM Roles & Policies, Auth0/Okta, Encryption, API Gateways, Firewalls, Private Cloud)
Experience with Continuous Integration/Deployments (Jenkins/Terraform/Git Lab Runners)
Experience working with version control systems like GitLab, GitHub, etc Required Experience & Education: 11-13 years of experience in Java. 8-10 years of experience in Node, Python. 8-10 years of experience with SQL 8+ Experience working with AWS. 8+ Experience working with NoSQL databases. 8+ Experience working with Monitoring tools – Splunk, Dynatrace, Cloudwatch, etc. 10+ Experience on Git, S3 and Jest (or Any Testing Libraries/framework). Strong Experience on Enterprise security Desired Experience:
Experience with Angular (preferred), React (Good to have).
Experience in SSO (SAML, OPENID)
Knowledge of search solutions such as Lucene, Solr, or ElasticSearch, OpenSearch
Experience in architecting and designing distributed systems that are highly available and security focused
Experience with designing event-based systems and single-page applications Location & Hours of Work Full-time position, working 40 hours per week. Primarily based in the Innovation Hub in Hyderabad, India, with flexibility to work remotely as required.
