We're proud of what we've built — and we're just getting started. Read our Culture Manual and learn more about how we work . About the team The Finance team is where numbers become decisions. We partner closely with business leaders across the company to make sure Wealthsimple is allocating resources wisely, hitting its targets, and building toward long-term sustainability.
Within Finance, the Treasury team is responsible for managing Wealthsimple's capital and liquidity across a growing number of legal entities — working at the intersection of financial risk, regulatory requirements, and business strategy. We're a small, high-trust team embedded in the business, and we hold ourselves to a high bar for both rigour and clarity.
About the role As Wealthsimple grows, so does the complexity of managing its balance sheet. This is a senior role at the core of that work — owning capital and liquidity management end-to-end, acting as a strategic advisor to leaders across the business, and providing direct support to the Director in leading the team.
You'll bring a strong point of view on capital strategy, translate complex financial dynamics into clear recommendations, and help build the frameworks and capabilities the Treasury function needs to scale. In this role you'll have the opportunity to: Own capital and liquidity management across Wealthsimple's material legal entities — including board/management reporting, planning, forecasting, allocation, and optimization Drive capital allocation strategy, including return and cost of capital analysis, asset risk assessment, stress testing, and funding strategy to support growth and scalability Maintain and monitor internal and external capital requirement ratios, keeping positions within our risk appetite; lead periodic reviews and recalibrations of the capital risk limits framework Enhance and maintain Wealthsimple's balance sheet & funding strategy, capital & liquidity policies and risk management framework Act as a subject matter expert on Treasury modelling, stress testing, and scenario design — and provide thought leadership on how AI can strengthen these capabilities across the function Work closely with FP&A, product leaders, regulatory reporting teams, legal, and compliance as a trusted advisor on capital and liquidity decisions Support the Director in leading and developing the Treasury team as it scales Skills you'll bring: 9+ years of capital and liquidity management and balance sheet experience at a financial institution or fintech (ideally a broker-dealer) Deep knowledge of capital structure, asset liability management, asset risk assessments, and balance sheet optimization Strong understanding of regulatory capital requirements for a broker-dealer, and general capital ratio concepts Prior experience in capital and liquidity planning and forecasting, capital budgeting and allocation, and stress testing A genuine interest in technology and creative problem-solving — you find better ways to do things, not just faster ways to do the same things Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with superior attention to detail Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex Treasury concepts clearly to non-Treasury audiences Nice to have: Experience working in a high-growth or scaling fintech environment Exposure to multi-entity or multi-jurisdictional capital structures Prior experience in a leadership capacity (leading a team) Who you are: A strategic thinker who can hold the detail and the big picture at the same time — you build the model and you know what it's telling you Someone who builds trust across the organization by being clear, reliable, and easy to work with — even when the answer is complicated Comfortable with ambiguity and able to make sound decisions without waiting for perfect information Someone who takes real ownership — you don't hand things off and forget them; you follow through Hand on experience driving AI adoption and implementation (financial modeling, data analytics and process/workflow improvement).
Curious about how AI is changing financial analysis, and motivated to lead that evolution on your team rather than watch it from a distance A collaborative partner to the Director — you make the team better by being in it Why Wealthsimple? 🌸 Top-tier health benefits and life insurance 📈 Long-term group savings with employer match, through Wealthsimple for Business 🌴 20 vacation days, 4 wellness days, and unlimited sick and mental health days per year ✈️ 90 days away: work outside Canada for up to 90 days per year 👥 Employee resource groups, including Rainbow (2SLGBTQ), Women of WS, and Black at WS 🌎 We are a hybrid team with over 1,500 employees across North America.
