About Us
Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. We bring that vision to life through our values and culture. Learn more about Target here . Working at Target means shaping experiences for hundreds of millions of guests while operating one of the largest retail technology platforms in the world.
We are a Fortune 50 company with more than 450,000 team members globally. Technology is one of Target's top four enterprise priorities. It plays an outsized role in powering growth, speed, reliability, and innovation across the company. From merchandising and supply chain to stores and digital, our technology platforms directly enable the most critical outcomes for 2026 and beyond.
Target Tech builds and operates the intelligence-powered architecture that fuels these outcomes. Our teams design scalable platforms, modern data ecosystems, and resilient infrastructure that allow thousands of builders to deliver secure, intelligent, and high-performing products at enterprise scale.
About the Cloud Enablement Team The Cloud Enablement team makes public cloud usable, secure, resilient, and cost-effective for Target's engineering teams. Today, Target leverages Google Cloud extensively, and this team plays a critical role in enabling teams to build and operate cloud-native workloads with the right abstractions, guardrails, automation, and support.
Cloud Enablement sits at the intersection of infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, security, finance, architecture, and developer experience. The team is responsible for turning public cloud capabilities into enterprise-ready platform capabilities that Target teams can adopt confidently and consistently.
Today the team enables: 1. Standardized public cloud patterns for application teams, data teams, and platform service providers. 2. Secure cloud foundations, including identity, networking, access, policy, secrets, and workload controls. 3.
Cloud onboarding, provisioning, and lifecycle automation through platform workflows. 4. Workload placement guidance and migration enablement across public cloud and Target-operated infrastructure. 5. Cost transparency, optimization, quota management, and cloud financial governance. 6.
Integration with the Target Application Platform so builders can access cloud capabilities through self-service, paved paths, and consistent developer workflows. Our strategic thesis: public cloud is not just infrastructure capacity. It is a platform acceleration layer.
The value comes from how well we integrate cloud capabilities into Target's standards, security model, operating model, cost controls, and developer experience. About the Role As Senior Engineering Manager for Cloud Enablement, you will lead the engineering team responsible for making public cloud offerings enterprise-ready for Target.
The team is growing significantly and you will play a direct role in hiring, onboarding, coaching, and shaping the engineering talent needed to scale the platform. You will manage engineers, shape technical execution, partner deeply with Product, Architecture, Security, Finance, Data, and Infrastructure teams, and help define how Target scales cloud-native delivery.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will not simply manage a backlog. You will help make decisions about cloud foundations, platform integration, developer workflows, workload migration, reliability, cost economics, and operational maturity.
You will be expected to understand the technology well enough to challenge designs, coach engineers, influence architecture, and represent the team with senior stakeholders. You will help Target move from fragmented cloud usage to a standardized, platform-enabled cloud operating model that improves speed, security, resilience, and cost efficiency.
You Will Be Accountable For 1. Team leadership: Building, growing, leading, and coaching a strong engineering team focused on public cloud enablement, platform integration, and cloud operating model maturity. 2. Cloud platform delivery: Shipping secure, reliable, and scalable cloud enablement capabilities across Google Cloud and related platform workflows. 3.
Developer experience: Making cloud easier to adopt through self-service onboarding, clear paved paths, reusable patterns, automation, documentation, and integration with TAP. 4. Cloud foundations: Partnering with Security, IAM, Network, Architecture, and Infrastructure teams to define and operate enterprise cloud foundations, including identity, access, policy, networking, secrets, and workload controls. 5.
Platform integration: Ensuring cloud capabilities are exposed through consistent platform interfaces, APIs, data models, lifecycle events, and developer workflows rather than one-off tools or manual processes. 6. Reliability and operations: Raising the operational maturity of cloud workloads through observability, SLOs, dependency visibility, incident readiness, disaster recovery, and production support patterns. 7.
Cloud economics: Driving transparency and accountability for cloud usage, quota, cost optimization, and financial governance so teams can scale cloud adoption responsibly. 8. Cross-functional execution: Aligning with Product, Architecture, Security, Finance, Data, and application engineering teams to remove blockers and deliver enterprise-scale outcomes. 9.
Talent and culture: Recruiting and developing engineers as the team grows, while creating an engineering culture grounded in ownership, technical rigor, platform thinking, operational excellence, inclusion, and continuous improvement. Why This Role Public cloud is central to Target's technology strategy.
It enables faster experimentation, scalable data and AI capabilities, resilient application platforms, and modern engineering workflows. But at Target scale, cloud adoption must be intentional. Teams need speed without uncontrolled complexity, autonomy without fragmentation, and self-service without compromising security, reliability, or cost discipline.
This role gives you the opportunity to shape how a Fortune 50 technology organization uses public cloud as an enterprise platform capability. You will join at a point of meaningful growth, with the opportunity to help scale the Cloud Enablement team, influence its operating model, and build the talent base required for long-term cloud platform maturity.
You will lead a team that directly affects thousands of engineers and the systems that power Target's guest, store, supply chain, merchandising, and digital experiences. If you want to lead the team that turns cloud from infrastructure access into a secure, governed, developer-friendly platform, we want to talk.
About You You are a technical engineering leader who understands that cloud enablement is not just about provisioning infrastructure. It is about creating the standards, automation, operating model, and developer experience that let teams use cloud safely and productively at enterprise scale.
You are comfortable working across deep infrastructure topics and executive-level outcomes. You can lead engineers through ambiguity, make pragmatic technical tradeoffs, partner with security and architecture without turning governance into bureaucracy, and push for better product thinking in platform teams.
You care about outcomes: faster onboarding, fewer tickets, better reliability, lower operational toil, clearer cost ownership, and stronger developer confidence. Required Qualifications 1. 8+ years of software engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or cloud engineering experience. 2. 3+ years leading engineering teams, including responsibility for delivery, talent development, technical execution, and operational outcomes. 3.
Hands-on experience building or operating cloud-native platforms, cloud foundations, infrastructure automation, or enterprise cloud services. 4. Strong working knowledge of Google Cloud or comparable public cloud platforms, including identity, networking, compute, storage, observability, security, and cost management concepts. 5.
