This role oversees the continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, building infrastructure, and deployment processes. This leader builds the technical and cultural ecosystem that enables engineers to deliver high-quality, secure, and reliable software quickly and efficiently.
The ideal candidate will drive architectural alignment, risk mitigation, and process optimization championing automation and governance across the IT organization. What We Expect Of You: Team Leadership & Development : Hire, mentor, and grow a team of release engineers.
Build a culture of operational excellence, psychological safety, and continuous learning CI/CD Platform Ownership: Design, scale, and maintain end-to-end build infrastructure and deployment automation—from code commit to production Release Governance: Define deployment standards, gating criteria, version control, and compliance/audit checkpoints without bottlenecking developer velocity Reliability & Metrics Tracking: Drive improvements in key DevOps metrics such as Deployment Frequency, Lead Time, Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR), and Change Failure Rate Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Security, Compliance, and Platform teams to align release processes with business objectives and infrastructure needs Risk Management: Oversee change control processes, complex multi-team dependency mapping, and deployment safety measures (e.g., canary releases, feature flags, and rollbacks) Drive continuous improvement initiatives and defect remediation in partnership with IT and business stakeholders Required Qualifications: 7+ years of senior software engineering leadership experience, with people management skills in high-growth or high-availability environments 3+ years of deep hands-on background in CI/CD systems (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Harness), cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) and containerization (Kubernetes, Docker) 3+ years of experience optimizing complex build systems and branching/merging strategies 3+ years of experience bridging the gap between engineering depth and business impact 3+ years of experience focused on automation and customer service excellence Preferred Qualifications: Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level engagement, ability to lead cross-functional teams, including offshore/onshore vendor teams Experience implementing and improving SRE metrics in distributed environments Education: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience) Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $130,295.00 - $260,590.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.
The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
