Job Summary: The Senior Technology Operations Engineer is a senior individual contributor responsible for the operational health, availability, reliability, and performance of Lowe's Enterprise Network Infrastructure in a 24x7 environment. The role provides hands-on support across routing and switching, wireless, firewalls, load balancing, ACI, SD-WAN, monitoring, and ITSM platforms, and serves as a technical escalation point for Complex Incidents.
The engineer translates business and functional requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions; supports design validation, testing, implementation, transition, and lifecycle maintenance and produces clear technical and operational documentation.
The role also coordinates Shift Operations, including Queue health, SLA adherence, handoffs, escalation tracking, and communication with global stakeholders, without direct people-management responsibility. Roles & Responsibilities: Core Responsibilities: Provide senior-level, hands-on operational support for enterprise routing and switching, wireless networks, firewalls, load balancing, ACI, SD-WAN, and associated network services.
Coordinate day-to-day shift operations in a 24x7 environment by monitoring incident and request queues, prioritizing work, ensuring SLA adherence, managing shift handoffs, and escalating risks or service-impacting issues. Act as a technical escalation point for Complex Incidents, including P1 and P2 events; lead troubleshooting, service restoration, root-cause analysis support, and timely stakeholder communication.
Ensure the availability, reliability, stability, security, and performance of production network infrastructure through proactive monitoring, alert response, health checks, and preventive maintenance. Support multi-vendor technologies and platforms, including Cisco, Aruba Networks, Juniper Networks, Fortinet, Palo Alto, F5, Silver Peak or equivalent SD-WAN, and related enterprise networking tools.
Work with monitoring platforms such as LogicMonitor or equivalent and ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, Helix, or equivalent for incident, request, problem, and Change Management. Translate business requirements and functional specifications into technical requirements and sustainable infrastructure designs for complex or high-impact network systems.
Collaborate with architects and engineers to develop, review, and validate system designs, prototypes, configurations, implementation plans, and operational support models. Build, review, test, implement, and maintain complex hardware and software configurations; prepare system components for controlled installation and transition into production.
Develop and execute infrastructure validation and testing to identify errors, confirm functional requirements, and verify operational readiness. Create, review, and maintain technical specifications, Knowledge Base articles, Standard Operating Procedures, runbooks, support documentation, and detailed service standards.
Support new technology adoption and transition by documenting processes, operational procedures, support requirements, dependencies, and acceptance criteria. Participate in problem management, identify recurring issues and operational gaps, and recommend corrective actions that improve service reliability and reduce repeat incidents.
Identify repetitive operational tasks and contribute to automation, toil reduction, alert tuning, configuration backup, health-check, reporting, and runbook automation initiatives. Evaluate new service options and technology changes, identify operational impacts and risks, and provide recommendations on feasibility, maintainability, supportability, and business value.
Work closely with global teams, including US-based stakeholders, third-party vendors, and solution providers during incidents, changes, transitions, technical reviews, and operational discussions. Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to engineers during the assigned shift, while maintaining accountability as an individual contributor.
Work in rotational shifts, including morning and night shifts and rotational week-offs, and maintain flexibility to support critical business needs. Years of Experience: 5-6 years of experience in network operations or infrastructure support within a large, distributed enterprise environment. 5 or more years of hands-on experience supporting routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, load balancing, SD-WAN, monitoring, and related network technologies. 5 or more years of experience diagnosing and resolving complex production incidents, including P1/P2 events, in a 24x7 operations environment.
