Job Summary The Vice President, Global Network Banker is a senior coverage banker within Citi's Global Network Banking team in Germany. This role is focused on managing and growing Citi's relationships with multinational corporations and their affiliates across Citi's global network, with a strong emphasis on identifying business opportunities, deepening client engagement, and driving revenue growth within the German market.
Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, the VP Global Network Banker works closely with product partners and banking teams to deliver solutions fully aligned with client objectives and Citi's global strategy. Germany, as Europe's largest economy and home to a globally significant base of industrial, automotive, chemical, and technology multinationals, presents a uniquely dynamic and commercially rich coverage environment.
The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of the German corporate banking landscape, a strong track record in coverage banking and origination, and the commercial drive to position Citi as the core banking partner for Germany's leading multinational corporations and their global affiliates.

Key Responsibilities
- Relationship Management & Coverage Build and nurture trusted advisor relationships with key client stakeholders from local and regional buying centers across Germany — including corporate treasury, finance
- C-suite functions — providing high-value market insights, strategic dialogue

- Develop a comprehensive understanding of each client's business model, corporate strategy
- financial wallet — including the specific dynamics of Germany's leading multinationals across automotive, industrials, chemicals, technology
- financial services — to identify and actively pursue revenue opportunities.
- Maintain high-level engagement and strategic dialogue across the German portfolio to position Citi as the core banking partner of choice, deepening wallet penetration and expanding the breadth of Citi's solutions deployed across the client base.
- Lead with a strong origination mindset — identifying, structuring, and executing top revenue wallet opportunities with commercial discipline and precision across the full German client portfolio.
- Leverage Citi's global network to provide clients with seamless cross-border banking capabilities, positioning Germany as a key corridor hub for European and global business flows. 2.
- Origination & Coverage Drive wallet share growth across a portfolio of German multinational clients by identifying and converting opportunities across products, geographies
- business lines within Citi's global network.
- Lead with tailored banking solutions aligned to German market dynamics and sector-specific insights — including key German sectors such as automotive (OEM and supplier ecosystem), chemicals and materials, engineering and industrials, technology and software
- financial services — while aligning with each client's global parent strategy.
- Identify and pursue new client acquisition opportunities within Germany, supporting the onboarding and expansion of new relationships to grow the GNB franchise in one of Citi's most strategically important European markets.
- Manage the local client pipeline effectively and collaborate with in-country and regional Product Specialists across Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS), Markets, Trade Finance
- FX to deliver comprehensive, integrated banking solutions.
- Act as a key point of connectivity between Citi's global account management framework (RAMs/PAMs/SAMs) and local client relationships in Germany, ensuring seamless coordination and a consistent, high-quality client experience across the global network. 3.
- Strategy & Credit Align account activities with strategic initiatives, including comprehensive client planning, wallet sizing, corridor plays, and Germany or EMEA product-specific business development campaigns.
- Partner with product specialists and senior banking colleagues to design and implement sophisticated, multi-product solutions — including liquidity management structures, cross-border financing, supply chain finance
- trade solutions — tailored to the complex needs of German multinationals operating across global markets.
- Maintain strong credit knowledge and actively contribute to the assessment, structuring
- management of client credit needs within the German portfolio, with an awareness of the credit profile characteristics typical of Germany's large-cap and mid-cap corporate landscape.
- Develop and maintain a sound understanding of the German regulatory environment, including BaFin (Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht) requirements, the Kreditwesengesetz (KWG)
- applicable EU frameworks governing corporate banking, AML/KYC compliance

Qualifications
- Experience: 6+ years of experience in corporate or commercial banking, with a demonstrated track record in coverage banking, relationship management, and origination
- prior experience within the German or broader DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) corporate banking market is strongly preferred
- familiarity with key German sectors (automotive, industrials, chemicals, technology) and Germany's Mittelstand and large-cap corporate landscape is a distinct advantage.
- Client & Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of German multinational clients, key sector dynamics, economic trends, and the relevant German and EU regulatory and compliance environment, including BaFin and KWG requirements
- awareness of Germany's position as a central European trade and financing corridor is essential.
- Credit Skills: Strong credit understanding and risk assessment capabilities, with the ability to assess, structure
- articulate credit solutions for complex, multinational client portfolios across a range of industries and financing structures.
- Product Knowledge: Strong knowledge of corporate banking products, particularly Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS), FX, Markets, and Trade Finance
- experience with cross-border liquidity structures, supply chain finance, and export-oriented financing is highly advantageous given the profile of Germany's export-driven corporate base.
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to navigate and lead complex, multi-product deal teams and engage credibly at senior executive level both internally and externally.
- Communication: Outstanding interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
- ability to engage confidently and influence credibly across all levels of an organization — from local treasury and finance teams to global C-suite stakeholders.
- Languages: Fluency in German and English (written and spoken) is required; this is a firm prerequisite for this role given the depth of local client engagement required across Germany's corporate market.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is required.
- A Master's degree (e.g., MBA, Diplom-Kaufmann, M.Sc.
- Finance) or professional qualification (e.g., CFA) is strongly preferred; a degree from a German institution (e.g., LMU Munich, Goethe University Frankfurt, WHU Otto Beisheim, Mannheim Business School) is advantageous.
