  • About the role
  • We’re looking for a Product Design Lead to help build and scale Maven’s direct-to-consumer healthcare experiences.
  • This role sits at the intersection of consumer growth, healthcare access, product craft, AI-native ways of working, and trust-sensitive design.
  • It is a hands-on player-coach role with formal line management responsibility. You’ll lead a small team of senior Product Design/UXR practitioners while also owning high-priority product design work yourself.
  • You’ll report to the VP Design and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Growth, Data, Clinical, Legal, Operations, and Support teams.
  • You will help Maven compete in a fast-moving and highly competitive consumer healthcare market while staying true to what makes Maven different: connected, clinically responsible, whole-person care for women.
  • You will be designing for users who are actively comparing options, making decisions quickly, weighing affordability, navigating uncertainty, and deciding whether they trust Maven enough to start and continue care.
  • The work will span both 0→1 product development and continuous optimization of live consumer journeys. You’ll help define new journeys, shape concepts, prototype
  • bring new consumer healthcare offerings to market
  • also improving existing funnels, onboarding, eligibility, pricing, payment, prescription, activation, retention
  • cross-sell experiences through research, experimentation, data
  • What you’ll do
  • Drive consumer growth through better product experiences
  • You’ll design and improve the journeys that help women discover, understand, trust, start, and continue care with Maven.
  • This includes work across marketing entry points, landing experiences, onboarding, eligibility, account creation, insurance and benefit capture, payment and prescription flows, activation, follow-up care, retention
  • cross-sell into longitudinal care offerings.
  • You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Growth, Data, Clinical, Legal, Operations, and Support teams to move the needle through product experiments, research, and design.
  • You’ll understand that in healthcare, trust is not a soft quality. It is central to product quality, conversion, retention, and care outcomes.
  • Make healthcare access, coverage, and cost easier to navigate
  • A major part of this role is helping users understand what care is available to them, what it costs, what might be covered, and what happens next.
  • You’ll design experiences that simplify complex choices across benefits and insurance coverage, self-pay options and pricing, prescriptions, pharmacy access, eligibility, clinical requirements, and ongoing care.
  • The goal is not only to increase conversion. It is to help more women successfully access the right care with confidence, clarity, and trust.
  • You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to resolve clinical, operational, regulatory, and commercial complexity in the user experience.
  • Lead and grow a senior design and research team
  • You’ll help the team focus on the highest-impact work, improve product thinking, strengthen research and experimentation practice
  • create clearer rituals for critique, prioritization, documentation
  • cross-functional collaboration.
  • You’ll model excellent hands-on design work yourself while helping experienced practitioners raise their standards, judgment, confidence, and impact.
  • You’ll help the team use AI to work closer to users, closer to data, closer to engineering, and closer to working software.
  • You may be a strong fit if you have:
  • 7+ years of product design experience, including complex consumer product journeys and 0→1 product growth.
  • Experience formally managing or leading design teams.
  • Strong hands-on product design craft across UX, prototyping, visual design, mobile apps, and responsive web.
  • A portfolio showing D2C product design leadership, systems thinking, data-driven decision-making, high-quality execution, and measurable product impact.
  • Experience designing products where trust, comprehension, eligibility, pricing, access, personal data, or complex decision-making play a central role.
  • Experience with growth, onboarding, conversion, activation, retention, cross-sell, monetization, or lifecycle journeys, informed by research, data and experimentation.
  • A strong AI-native workflow and informed opinions on how AI can improve design quality, team capacity, and business value.
  • We’d especially love to see
  • Experience in healthcare, women’s health, telehealth, digital health, insurance, fintech, marketplaces, consumer subscriptions, or another regulated or trust-sensitive domain.
  • Experience designing products involving insurance, benefits, prescriptions, clinical eligibility, payments, care navigation, or personal health information.
  • Experience designing in a competitive direct-to-consumer category where acquisition, conversion, trust, differentiation, and retention all matter.
  • Location and working model
  • This is a full-time role based in San Francisco, with a hybrid working model.
