For more information, visit Lowes India . About the team The Freight Hawk team is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for Lowe’s enterprise shipment visibility platform. Freight Hawk plays a critical role in Transportation by enabling real-time, end-to-end shipment transparency, improving shipment data quality, and supporting faster, more reliable supply chain decisions.
What You Will Do Resolves complex problems spanning multiple applications to drive improvements across portfolios; leads projects with significant business implications and participates in planning, prioritization and estimates. Leads development of integrated business and/or enterprise application to ensure solution is resilient, scalable, and maintainable and meets architectural standards.
Builds awareness and product alignment to enterprise recommended frameworks, tools, technologies, engineering platforms, and architectural design processes. Drives operational excellence through disaster recovery and capacity planning, performance, regression and chaos testing, observability alerts and dashboards, and reliability processes and recovery runbooks.
Deconstructs complex problems into simple solutions that can evolve over time. Educates others on engineering standards and best practices, including code quality analysis, test coverage, security principles (authentication and authorization protocols), and Agile processes.
Mentors and advises others by applying and sharing an in-depth understanding of enterprise and industry technologies, tools, methodologies, policies, standards, and best practices. Continuously explores and recommends new enterprise software components and technologies.
Continuously works to simplify solutions, optimize processes, remove bottlenecks, and resolve escalated issues. Key Responsibilities Own and drive the technical roadmap for Freight Hawk in alignment with Transportation’s product and business priorities Provide architecture leadership and define guardrails for scalable, reliable, and maintainable platform design Lead API, event-driven, and data-quality design standards across Freight Hawk capabilities Support strategic roadmap initiatives including international, collect, and prepaid shipment visibility Lead technical integration with Mercury and other enterprise Transportation platforms Drive modernization of carrier integrations, including webhook-based event ingestion and improved event latency Improve shipment event completeness, ETA accuracy, carrier latency tracking, and milestone reliability Establish observability, monitoring, and data-quality dashboards for operational and business visibility Guide the platform’s evolution from shipment tracking to predictive visibility and proactive shipment intelligence Reduce execution risk across Mercury, Nexus, DACI, carrier, and downstream consumer integrations Partner with product, architecture, engineering, operations, and business teams to translate roadmap priorities into scalable technical solutions Lead design reviews, code reviews, testing strategy, production readiness, and incident response practices Mentor engineers and raise overall engineering quality across the team Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems (CIS), or related field or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable 7 years of experience in software development or related field 6 years of experience in any of the following: software engineering competencies frontend technologies (UI/UX), middleware (microservices and APIs), database technologies, DevOps 6 years of experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development lifecycles through iterative agile development Strong experience designing and building scalable enterprise applications and distributed systems Hands-on experience with API design, event-driven architecture, microservices, and cloud-native engineering Strong understanding of data quality, observability, monitoring, reliability, and production support practices Experience integrating with internal and external platforms, third-party providers, or carrier/vendor systems Ability to lead technical design discussions and influence cross-functional engineering decisions Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex platform and integration challenges Experience mentoring engineers and improving engineering practices across design, development, testing, and support Strong communication skills with the ability to partner with product, business, architecture, and operations teams Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in computer science, CIS, or related field 6 years of experience writing technical documentation in a software environment, developing and implementing business systems within an organization and working with source code control systems 6 years of experience working with an IT Infrastructure Library framework, defect or incident tracking software, web services, and application and integration middleware 6 years of experience in systems analysis, including defining technical requirements and performing high level design for complex solutions 6 years of experience working with three or more of the following: continuous integration/continuous deployment tools, frontend technologies (UI/UX), middleware, database technologies, DevOps 4 years of experience leading teams, with or without direct reports Experience in supply chain, transportation, logistics, shipment visibility, carrier integrations, or fulfillment systems Experience with real-time event processing, webhook integrations, streaming platforms, and asynchronous messaging Experience with ETA prediction, shipment milestone tracking, data completeness monitoring, or exception management Experience with cloud platforms, containerized services, CI/CD pipelines, and production observability tools Familiarity with enterprise data platforms, dashboards, reporting, and operational metrics Experience leading modernization efforts for legacy integrations or distributed platform capabilities Lowe's is an equal opportunity employer and administers all personnel practices without regard to race, color, religious creed, sex, gender, age, ancestry, national origin, mental or physical disability or medical condition, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, military or veteran status, genetic information, or any other category protected under federal, state, or local law.
