Our team accomplishes this through deep subject matter expertise (SME) and building relationships while driving awareness and advocacy to meet team members’ needs consistently and effectively. As an Sr Accommodations Business Partner , you will be the primary contact working directly with team members and local HR and leadership in providing workplace accommodations, including assessment of the accommodation request, SME in determining reasonable accommodations available to meet the needs of the team member, coordination of implementation and monitoring of the accommodation over time to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the team members.
As a SME on Target’s accommodations processes, as well as state and federal disability and accommodation laws, you will collaborate and advocate on behalf of team members throughout the process to ensure accommodation needs are met. This individual will be experienced in answering questions related to the accommodations process, understanding each unique team member’s situation, responding to changing circumstances and needs, and paving the way for a connected and trusted team member experience.
The individual in this role must possess self-management skills, ability to develop creative and innovative solutions, a desire to share knowledge and an ability to translate business needs and goals into reasonable accommodations that will produce favorable results for Target team members and meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities Provide end-to-end case management for sensitive and high complexity cases, by serving as a subject matter expert on the accommodation process, including administration of the interactive process by understanding team member restrictions, need for a reasonable accommodation, brainstorming potential solutions and partnering with local HR and leaders to implement accommodations.
Discern escalated situations and facilitate/coordinate decisions between stakeholders, including HR, leaders, Leave Administration teams, vendors, ER/Legal, etc. Consult with ER/Legal teams when needed, on actions taken regarding individual team member accommodation decisions.
Provide consultation and coaching on workplace accommodations, acting as an advocate for the accommodations process by providing consultative and educational support to team members, HR, and leaders with a focus on problem solving and creative solutions Develop and maintain subject-matter-expertise and specialization, by keeping up to date with a changing external accommodation environment and seeking out knowledge building through external resources.
Provide case consultation and onboarding mentorship for new Accommodations Business Partners. Maintain a caseload of roughly 50-80 cases, that may fluctuate during periods of high volume. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and objectives of the team.

About you: Four-year degree or equivalent experience. 2+ years of accommodations, leave mgmt., HR, legal, stores or GSCL field experience An understanding of federal and state disability and accommodation laws, in addition to understanding the workplace accommodation process, specifically ADA/ADAA and FMLA Detail orientation with ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain excellent follow up in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrates strong problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solutions. Ability to work with a diverse range of people and effectively partner and work with all levels including team members, vendors, HR and leaders.
Passion for delivering a positive team member experience and excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing. Demonstrated knowledge of computer operating skills. Ability to flex your schedule to be available for team member contact between 7AM – 6PM Monday - Friday.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working with confidential information. Experience building relationships and influencing others while working in a cross functional environment. Ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solutions.
Experience in advocacy, providing consultation and settling disability issues. Previous experience with academic offices of accommodations and disability services, government programs, Vocational Rehabilitation or Occupational Therapy Experience exercising independent judgement and discretion while leveraging company policies and practices This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs.
A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
