Join our team to help build a better, more sustainable world for future generations! Job Summary: Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division has an open opportunity as a Training Specialist. The Training Specialist will identify and monitor training needs in the organization, and design, plan, and implement training programs, policies, and procedures to fulfill those needs.
The primary focus of this position is the training of Generator Technicians in technical applications, safety, repair, and service of standby generators
What You Will Do
- Train Olympian Generator and Strategic partner Technicians Identify and assess the training needs of the organization through job analysis, career paths and consultation with managers.
- Develop individualized and group training programs that address specific business needs.
- Lead in-person or virtual classroom sessions and hands-on laboratory workshops Maintain and manage training lab equipment, ensuring simulators and physical generators accurately reflect current market products Assess trainee competency through written exams and practical assessments, ensuring safety compliance and high-quality field work.
- Expertise in electrical theory, mechanical engineering, and both low/high voltage (AC/DC) generator systems Develop training manuals that target tangible results.
- Effectively manage the training budget.
- Evaluate organizational performance to ensure that training meets business needs and improves performance.
- Drive brand values and philosophy through all training and development activities.
- Create a curriculum to facilitate strategic training based on the organization’s goals.
- Manage the technologies and technical personnel required to develop, manage, and deliver training.
- Prepare, plan, and teach classes on technical applications, safety, repair, and service of standby generators.
- Coordinate the training schedules and create agendas for all participants.
- Deliver training using relevant training materials such as texts, handouts, class exercises, hands-on-training, and assessment tools.
- Update training materials and documents as needed.
- Monitor effectiveness of training by reviewing written evaluations and assessments of employees attending training sessions and make improvements.
- Provides feedback and recommendations towards participants training goals and training objectives.
- Keep and report data on completed courses, absences, issues, etc.
- Exceptional communication, patience, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Must have the ability to travel to our facilities.

- Top Candidates Will Also Have: Experience with standby generators.
- Experience with Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS).
- Prior experience with developing and facilitating training modules.
- Prior experience managing a team.
- Additional Information: This position is located in Irving, TX.
- Travel up to 10-40% is required.
