  • At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. Amazon's Transportation Operations Management team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated analytical leader to own and drive the strategic direction of labor planning programs and technical initiatives at scale. As a Business Analyst II for Mid to Long Term Planning within the Transportation Operations Management Organization, you will support the end-to-end execution of headcount planning and labor forecasting for 400+ transportation sites. You will partner with planning leads, operations, and finance teams to maintain, improve, and scale forecasting models that drive headcount targets, trainer utilization planning, and staffing decisions across the network. This role requires you to identify data quality issues, surface forecast deviations, and propose analytical solutions that improve planning accuracy and reduce manual effort. You will support the planning cycle cadence (OP1, OP2, QxG) by preparing headcount forecasts, validating model outputs, conducting variance analysis against actuals, and maintaining the analytical infrastructure that underpins labor planning decisions. You will own trainer utilization forecasting — building and refining models that project training capacity needs based on hiring plans, attrition signals, and new site launch timelines. You will also support ad hoc modeling needs for the Mid-Long Term Planning team, including sensitivity analyses, scenario comparisons, and data exploration that informs planning strategy. You will develop documentation and standard operating procedures for recurring analytical processes, ensuring consistency and scalability as the team grows. This role partners cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Recruiting, and HR to align on assumptions, validate inputs, and communicate planning outputs. This role requires strong communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and present findings to managers and senior managers. You will participate in the communication of metrics, analyses, and recommendations to cross-functional partners, operating with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. You will exercise judgment in ambiguous situations and escalate appropriately when issues require senior leadership visibility. Key job responsibilities Execute labor forecasting workflows end-to-end, identifying data quality issues and process inefficiencies, and implementing solutions that reduce manual effort and improve forecast accuracy. Build, maintain, and improve Python and Alteryx models for headcount forecasting, trainer utilization, and ad hoc planning analyses
  • implement automation that streamlines recurring analytical processes. Analyze data across multiple domains (Operations, Finance, Recruiting, HR) to surface insights, identify trends, and generate recommendations that support planning team strategy. Partner with product and engineering teams to test and validate tool features, provide business requirements, and support forecasting model integration into planning workflows. Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Recruiting, and HR to source data inputs, validate assumptions, and align on planning outputs for each cycle. Develop and maintain KPI reporting and dashboards for the labor planning program, providing visibility into forecast accuracy, headcount plan adherence, and trainer capacity utilization. Apply analytical best practices in day-to-day work
  • support team knowledge sharing by documenting methodologies, maintaining SOPs, and contributing to process standardization. Work with data owners to identify and resolve data quality issues, validate new data sources, and ensure accuracy and consistency of planning inputs. Identify process or methodology gaps in recurring workflows and drive them to resolution through documentation, automation, or escalation to appropriate owners. A day in the life As a Business Analyst in Transportation Labor Planning, you execute headcount forecasting workflows and trainer utilization models for 400+ transportation sites. You start the day reviewing model outputs, checking for anomalies across site types, and flagging deviations that exceed variance thresholds. You spend focused time building and refining Python and Alteryx models, testing whether new data signals improve accuracy for sites that are historically difficult to predict. You collaborate with Operations, Finance, Recruiting, and HR partners to validate assumptions and align on planning outputs. You conduct variance analyses comparing forecasts to actuals, document your findings, and present recommendations to your manager and planning leads. You maintain dashboards that track forecast accuracy and trainer capacity, update SOPs as processes evolve, and proactively flag data quality issues to the appropriate owners. You work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and the ability to deliver reliable analytical outputs on a recurring cadence directly impacts staffing decisions across the network.
