This role of Decision Science leader will work to shape and deliver high-impact, data-driven strategies to accelerate performance. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: the structuring of ambiguous problems, synthesizing complex information, and driving alignment across senior stakeholders.
The role will partner closely with Product Groups and Lines of Business to understand key drivers, align on quantifiable goals, and influence decisioning and prioritization through advanced analytics. In addition, leveraging an interdisciplinary approach that combines business acumen, applied statistics, behavioral science, and technology managing robust analytical frameworks and execution across the full analytics lifecycle.
This includes sourcing, cleaning, and validating data; performing KPI and trend analyses; and applying modeling, optimization, and statistical techniques to uncover actionable insights. Collaboration across functions is required—including data management, strategy, product, and technology teams—to embed analytics into decision-making at scale.
Using advanced tools such as machine learning and generative AI (including large language models), to accelerate insight generation and elevation of analytical rigor. Translating complex findings into clear, executive-ready narratives that influence strategy and drive alignment, with success measured by the quality of decisions enabled and the quantifiable business results delivered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Responsible for leading a team of Decision Scientists in support of high impact, visible analyses and initiatives across multiple business models, covering banking channels, segments, and products. 2.
Responsible for talent acquisition, coaching, and organization of decision science professionals possessing highly technical skills, an understanding of business processes, natural curiosity, and a drive to excellence in pursuit of business optimization and impact. 3.
Drive integration of team culture (who we are), connection between analysis and strategic focus (how we win), and consistency in deliverables (what good looks like). Champion the use of tools to solve business challenges and deliver solutions that are timely, accurate, and repeatable. 4.
Foster communication and partnership across all levels of the organization including engagement with senior leadership and C-Suite, Truist Executive Leadership Team. Responsible for stewarding relationships, delivering on promises, and building trust with partners while delivering on LOB and company goals. 5.
Pursue business outcomes valued through increased revenue and/or efficiency leveraging data-driven insights powered by analytics in support of enhanced decision-making. Focus on continuous improvement in decision science delivery and outcomes in pursuit of business optimization. 6.
Drive decision science projects leveraging quantitative analysis techniques, including machine learning, in pursuit of business optimization and impact. 7. Represent assigned business group in various forums, work streams, and executive reviews.
Cultivate relationships with partner federated and hub analytics teams to drive efficient decision science delivery against shared objectives. 8. Exercise sound judgment, risk management, and foster a client centric culture throughout design, development, and deployment practices.

The incumbent must demonstrate a combination of academic aptitude, quantitative skills, business acumen, working knowledge of transaction processing application software, application processing systems, and collection inventory systems, strategic and creative thinking, and excellent written and verbal communications skills 2.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and related training or experience, and 10+ years of experience in Banking, Finance, Decision/Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or Engineering 3. 7+ years of analytics management experience with a diverse project focus and demonstrated results 4.
Must be a people leader, able to manage in a cross-functional and collaborative team environment focused on supporting business partners with enhanced insights 5. Demonstrated ability to engage and manage a diverse set of internal business partners, product sets, and projects, connecting insights with execution and business impact 6.
Innovative and strategic thinker with ability to connect to practical application, providing leadership on target initiatives, with a strong bias to action and focus on quantifiable business impact 7. Experience in managing multiple projects with tight deadlines in a collaborative environment, with ability to pivot and align resources to drive maximum impact 8.
Ability to maintain a high level of competency in statistical and analytical principles, tools, and techniques. Champion application of emerging decision science techniques by supporting teammate training and development and building business partner awareness 9.
Incumbent should have an understanding of various database environments (IBM DB2, Oracle), technical programming skills (SAS, SQL, Toad), exposure to applied data science tools (R, Python, SAS E-Miner), familiarity with data visualization and BI tools (Tableau, MicroStrategy), and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Preferred Qualifications: 1.
Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field such as Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or Engineering 2. 15+ years of experience in Banking, Finance, Decision/Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or Engineering The annual base salary for this position could fall within the range of $140,000 - $150,000.
