A day in the life This is a Software Development Manager role in the Leo Payload Software organization, responsible for driving the research & development, deployment and operation of Leo Payload. Our software drives the hardware, firmware and networking on the satellite to manage all radio communications between satellites and the ground gateways and customer terminals
- also provides device drivers and services for managing redundancy, operational and thermal state of the payload. You will own the roadmap and mission for software and work with your customers to refine requirements, understand constraints, hire & grow your team and iteratively deliver value to our customers. About the team Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Within Leo, Payload software team is responsible for life-cycle management of RF links
- transporting customer data and Leo management/control traffic over RF & Optical links in the Leo system.
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience - 10+ years of engineering experience - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification
- livesite operations - Experience partnering with product or program management teams - Experience in networking, large-scale distributed systems or a related field - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field
