- Manager, Production Engineering
- Redwood Materials is seeking a Manager of Production Engineering to play a pivotal role in building out our Battery Materials Campus. The manager will work intimately with the team to manage high-visibility/value projects and will apply technical / leadership skills to assure the timely and efficient execution of the projects.
- The final job title and level will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
- Responsibilities will include:
- Build and lead engineering teams that work in closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure that our processes are: safe, sustainable and profitable.
- Use data to set strategy for optimization, debottlenecking and improvement of industrial scale processes
- Define engineering workflows and plans for the team.
- Lead design concept/development efforts, working directly with engineers to vet/validate multiple different proposed solutions.
- Leading and participating in cross-functional teams to develop equipment
- Leading and participating in research and development to meet strategic objectives
- Finalize design scope from initial concepts and budgets, define initial assumptions.
- Partner with the project management team to identify and document all project design milestones and deliverables.
- Continuously monitor and measure all project design processes and activities to identify and communicate potential issues, risks, and problems and provide corrective action options to drive to resolution.
- Serve as a final reviewer for all designs, ensuring simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and functionality/robustness
Desired Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering
- 7+ years of Experience in industrial chemical processing or metallurgical operations
- Experience with large capital project planning and budgeting
- Experience in the preparation of mechanical contract drawings and engineering specifications.
- Track record of successfully leading teams
- Self motivated with a hands on approach who takes the initiative
- Strong written and verbal communication
- A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely perform job duties in both office and production environments.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Must maintain regular and punctual attendance in alignment with company and regulatory standards.
- Must be able to communicate clearly.
- Working Conditions:
- Split work environment between office and the production facility.
- Work may involve extended periods of working in the production facility.
- Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time.
- May require occasional work weekends or alternate shifts to support production needs.
- The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
