Job Summary Lead reliability excellence at APLNG—join the ConocoPhillips Australia team as M&R Supervisor – Reliability, based on Curtis Island, Gladstone. Position Overview ConocoPhillips’ Australian headquarters are located in Brisbane. Our focus is supplying Australian customers with natural gas and international customers with liquefied natural gas.
We do this through our 47.5 percent interest in the Australia Pacific LNG joint venture, one of the largest producers of natural gas in eastern Australia. ConocoPhillips Australia also operates the Australia Pacific LNG liquefied natural gas facility near Gladstone.
We are also an exploration company, with ongoing exploration occurring in the Bowen and Surat Basin in Central Queensland and new exploration in the Otway Basin along the southern coast of Australia to identify natural gas reserves for supply to Australian customers.
About the Role The M&R Supervisor – Reliability leads a high-performing reliability team, driving defect elimination, reliability improvement initiatives, maintenance strategy optimisation, and frontline technical support to maintenance and operations teams on Curtis Island.
As a key member of the ConocoPhillips (COP) Australia Pacific LNG Downstream (DS) Maintenance & Reliability team, this position contributes to the development of a learning organisation that embraces a commitment to operational excellence through continuous improvement, achieving zero injuries or incidents, and compliance with our standards and processes.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Coach and develop Maintenance Specialists in the key areas of defect elimination, preventive maintenance optimisation and risk-based approaches to reliability improvement. Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Operations Functions, including Production and Engineering Teams, to ensure outcomes are Operations-wide solutions.
Fostering a learning culture focused on continuous improvement where the Reliability Team proactively develops and implements changes to Reliability processes and procedures, as well as communicating changes to the Operations Functions. Contribute to the optimisation of APLNG Maintenance Strategies to balance integrity, reliability, availability, and cost within the compliance boundaries set by respective discipline Technical Authorities.
Support capability development within the M&R execution teams. You will bring to the role Cultural alignment with ConocoPhillips’ SPIRIT Values. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop multi-disciplinary teams in a complex operational environment.
Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and build collaborative relationships. A Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification, with 10+ years' experience providing technical support on complex oil and gas facilities.
A tertiary qualification in Engineering at Advanced Diploma level or higher. Experience in the maintenance and reliability of oil and gas, petrochemical, or heavy industry facilities. A good understanding of other trades and disciplines. A strong understanding of failure mode analysis and maintenance strategy development processes, such as FMECA / RCM.
Experience with Management of Change (MoC) processes. Experience developing and managing work plans and budgets. Experience driving defect elimination initiatives and facilitating Root Cause Analysis (RCA) workshops. Preferred Understand the development and maintenance of preventive maintenance programs in SAP-PM or equivalent CMMS platforms.
Experience with critical LNG operating equipment such as turbine-driven compressors, cryogenic rotating equipment and complex control systems.
