Job Description

At Regions, the Business Intelligence Analyst drives business decisions by providing quantitative and qualitative data analysis. This position applies data mining techniques and conducts statistical analysis to report key findings in-order to improve processes and provide data-driven forecasts of potential costs, risks, and profits of new business initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities Collects, aggregates, and analyzes complex data from multiple internal and external sources to drive insights into business performance Produces actionable reports that show key performance indicators, identifies areas of improvement for current operations, and displays root cause analysis of problems Communicates complex findings and insights to stakeholders and provides business strategy recommendations for optimizing business performance Provides reporting solutions and responds to moderately-complex ad-hoc report requests Prepares visual reports/presentations to present analysis to key stakeholders Assists business intelligence developers in the design and development of business intelligence reporting tools Serves as a subject matter expert and acts as an enterprise data liaison for the business unit Analyzes trends in information to ensure business decisions are modernized, keeping pace with the growing industry Partners with the centralized Data Governance team to implement and support data governance and data quality requirements This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Statistics, or related field and six (6) years of related experience Or High School Diploma or GED and ten (10) years of related experience Preferences Experience applying statistical skills such as distributions, statistical testing, and regression analysis Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau and QlikView Experience using relational databases such as SQL and Oracle Experience using query development, scripting, and programming skills such as Excel Power Pivot and Dax Experience within the financial services industry Skills and Competencies Ability to clearly articulate complex concepts, features, and benefits of analyses to any audience Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills Strong work ethic and self-motivation Additional Qualifications Primary Responsibilities: Build, maintain, and optimize SQL queries to support Quality Control’s data needs Build and maintain automated data quality tests Lead annual validation of import queries and automated tests Participate in technology projects to identify impacts to existing and future data needs, including participating in Office Hours, participating in data tests, redevelopment of impacted queries, etc.

Analyze and validate results from query-derived populations and reporting outputs, leveraging knowledge of the technology environment and data architecture to identify, investigate, and resolve issues affecting reports, dashboards, and data queries.

Support and mentor junior BI Analysts Preferred Experience: Prior experience in data analytics within the banking or financial services industry Strong experience in data analysis and interpretation, including key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and business performance indicators Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau, including development and design Experience utilizing analytical software such as Structured Query Language (SQL), Statistical Analysis System (SAS), and applicable Microsoft Office applications Advanced SQL and data querying skills.

Experience with SAS, GitHub, and/or Python a plus. Experience writing automated test queries This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future. Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week.

The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office expectations. Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense. This position must be within a reasonable driving distance to a Branch, Consumer Operations, or Professional Office Building with the primary location being for Birmingham, AL.

Exceptions to the geographic location requirement may be made for current Regions associates who work remotely. Regions will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position at this time. Applicants for this position must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Position Type Full time Compensation Details Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role.

As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job. The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.
