DevSecOps Engineer
Title: DevSecOps Engineer Belong. Connect. Grow. with KBR! KBR is seeking an experienced DevSecOps Engineer to support the MSEIT contract at Space Systems Command (SSC). This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining software delivery pipelines, deployment tooling, and platform automation supporting mission-critical software systems.
The successful candidate will help bridge development and operational environments by enabling secure, repeatable, and scalable software delivery across multiple security domains and deployment environments. The role requires strong expertise in CI/CD, Kubernetes-based deployments, Git-centric workflows, and modern software delivery practices.
This position works closely with software development teams, platform engineers, cyber personnel, and operational stakeholders to ensure software can move efficiently and securely from development through operational deployment. Why Join Us?

Responsibilities CI/CD Pipeline Engineering – Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting software delivery across multiple environments.
Deployment Automation – Develop automated deployment processes that improve consistency, reliability, and delivery velocity. GitOps & Source Control Management – Implement and support Git-based workflows, branching strategies, repository management, and deployment automation practices.
Kubernetes Platform Support – Deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and optimize Kubernetes-based application environments. Helm & Release Management – Develop and maintain Helm charts, deployment templates, and environment-specific configurations.
Toolchain Engineering – Maintain and improve software delivery toolchains supporting development, testing, security scanning, deployment, and operational monitoring. Multi-Environment Deployment Support – Coordinate deployments across development, integration, test, and operational environments with varying security requirements and constraints.
Security Integration – Work closely with cyber teams to incorporate security controls, scanning, compliance requirements, and vulnerability remediation into delivery pipelines. Release Engineering – Support release packaging, deployment validation, rollback strategies, and operational readiness activities.
Platform Troubleshooting – Investigate and resolve pipeline, deployment, infrastructure, and integration issues affecting software delivery. Collaboration – Partner with software developers, AI engineers, systems engineers, cyber teams, and operational stakeholders to improve delivery effectiveness and reliability.
Work Environment: Location: El Segundo, CA (Work-from-home flexibility with on-site support as required) Travel Requirements: Minimal Working Hours: Standard Required Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, math, physics, or related technical field 8+ years of experience supporting DevOps, DevSecOps, platform engineering, release engineering, or software delivery activities Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines Strong experience with Git-based development workflows and source control management Experience developing and maintaining Helm charts and Kubernetes deployment configurations Strong experience administering and troubleshooting Kubernetes-based environments Understanding of software deployment lifecycles across multiple environments and security domains Experience supporting containerized applications and cloud-native architectures Familiarity with software delivery automation, infrastructure automation, and deployment orchestration Strong scripting or automation experience using tools such as Bash, Python, or Go Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) Desired Active Secret or higher clearance Experience supporting Space Systems Command (SSC), Space Operations Command (SpOC/CFC), or other DoD software programs Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and secure software delivery methodologies Understanding of software deployment challenges across IL5, IL6, air-gapped, or other restricted environments Experience integrating security scanning, vulnerability management, and compliance checks into CI/CD pipelines Familiarity with software supply chain security practices including artifact signing, SBOM generation, and provenance validation Experience supporting cloud-native mission platforms and distributed application architectures Familiarity with Agile software development environments and Program Increment (PI) execution Experience supporting SATCOM, mission systems, or operational C2 environments Experience with tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Argo CD, Argo Workflows, Tekton, or similar CI/CD platforms Experience supporting Harbor, Nexus, Artifactory, or similar artifact repositories Familiarity with Kubernetes security tools, policy engines, or runtime security platforms Experience supporting deployments across multiple security enclaves or classified environments Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform, OpenTofu, or Ansible Experience supporting MLOps platforms, model deployment pipelines, AI workload orchestration, or machine learning lifecycle management Experience supporting AI-enabled mission systems or modern software factories Relevant certifications such as Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD), Security+, CISSP, GitLab, or cloud platform certifications Certifications such as INCOSE CSEP/ESEP Basic Compensation: $126,000 to $170,000 in El Segundo, CA The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
