Join us and be part of something bigger – helping to simplify health care one person, one family and one community at a time. Position Summary Omnicare seeks an experienced Labor & Employment attorney to serve as a key in-house resource for the company's workforce-related legal matters.
This attorney will provide strategic and hands-on legal support across the full employee lifecycle, with a strong focus on compliance, risk mitigation, and litigation management in a long term care (LTC) environment (highly regulated healthcare and pharmacy environment).
The role partners closely with HR, Employee Relations, Compliance, and Operations leadership to navigate complex workforce issues including workforce reductions, union considerations, investigations, and regulatory compliance. Omnicare is a leading provider of pharmacy services to long-term care facilities nationwide, supporting skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and other institutional care settings.
As we transition to an independent, standalone organization, we are building and strengthening internal capabilities to support our approximately 6,000 colleagues and multi-state operations. Major Responsibilities Serve as primary legal advisor on all employment matters, including hiring, discipline, terminations, investigations, leave management, accommodations, and wage and hour compliance Advise HR and business leaders on day-to-day employment matters across a multi-state, unionized and non-unionized workforce Manage employment litigation, agency charges, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including oversight of outside counsel Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, severance agreements, separation agreements, and HR-related policies Lead internal investigations into employee complaints, workplace misconduct, and related matters Advise on compliance with federal and state labor laws and applicable state equivalents across Omnicare's geographic footprint Support HR on labor relations strategy, collective bargaining agreement interpretation, grievance processes, and union matters Partner with Compliance on workforce-related regulatory matters, including those specific to the healthcare and pharmacy industries (e.g., state pharmacy board requirements, DEA, and CMS workforce standards) Advise on workforce restructuring, reductions-in-force, and related WARN Act obligations Provide training to HR and management on employment law topics Required Qualifications 8+ years of legal experience, with a combination of Labor/Employment, law firm, and in-house experience preferred.
Strong working knowledge of federal and multistate employment law; experience managing matters across a large, geographically dispersed employer strongly preferred Healthcare industry experience a plus, particularly in long-term care, pharmacy, or a highly regulated sector Experience managing employment litigation and agency proceedings Labor relations experience, including collective bargaining and NLRB matters, is a plus given Omnicare's workforce profile Excellent judgment, communication, and ability to advise senior business leaders in plain language Comfortable operating in a lean, high-growth environment with significant autonomy Education JD Required Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $175,100.00 - $334,750.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.
The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
