Here, ambition meets action. Tech meets trust. And innovation isn’t a buzzword — it’s a way of life. The world of work as we know it is changing and we're looking for Trailblazers who are passionate about bettering business and the world through AI, driving innovation, and keeping Salesforce's core values at the heart of it all.

Ready to level-up your career at the company leading workforce transformation in the agentic era? You’re in the right place! Agentforce is the future of AI, and you are the future of Salesforce. The Technical Architect — Tableau Next is an execution-focused analytics architect responsible for designing and delivering migrations from legacy Business Intelligence and reporting platforms (Cognos, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Power BI, Looker, legacy Tableau Server) to Tableau Next.

As a member of the Strategic Migration CoE and Migration Factory, you will act as the primary technical authority for the Tableau Next track — owning the analytics platform architecture, legacy BI content migration strategy, data source re-architecture, governance model design and Tableau Next feature adoption roadmap.

You will combine deep Tableau expertise with strong data engineering and cloud data platform knowledge to ensure that dashboards, data sources, calculated fields, permissions and governance structures are migrated with full fidelity, improved performance and accelerated time-to-insight for the client's business users

Responsibilities

  • transition from legacy BI platforms to Tableau Next — including dashboard migration, data source re-architecture, semantic layer design and governance model.
  • Design the legacy BI content migration strategy — inventorying, assessing and prioritising all legacy reports, dashboards, datasets and calculated fields for migration, retirement or rebuild in Tableau Next.
  • Architect the Tableau Next data source framework — designing live connections, published data sources, virtual connections, data policies and extract schedules optimised for performance and governance.
  • Design the Tableau Next site and governance model — including project hierarchy, permission groups, content certification workflow, data quality warnings and usage analytics configuration.
  • Own the cloud data platform integration architecture — designing connections between Tableau Next and Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Azure Synapse and Salesforce Data Cloud as analytical data sources.
  • Lead the semantic layer and data model migration — translating legacy BI semantic models, universe layers (Business Objects) and subject areas (Cognos) into Tableau Next published data source designs and calculations.
  • Define end-to-end data lineage for all analytics objects — mapping source data fields through transformation layers to Tableau Next calculated fields, ensuring business logic equivalence is preserved or improved.
  • Lead functional and technical discovery workshops with client business intelligence, data engineering and business analytics teams to assess legacy report complexity, data source dependencies and user adoption patterns.
  • Manage the functional depth of Source vs.
  • Target systems — maintaining deep understanding of how legacy BI platform features (Cognos report types, Business Objects universes, Power BI DAX measures) translate to Tableau Next capabilities.
  • Serve as a Trusted Advisor to the client , driving conversations with CDOs, Analytics leaders and Enterprise Architects to shape the Tableau Next migration roadmap, data governance strategy and self-service analytics vision.
  • Establish best-in-class standards for the Tableau Next migration practice — building reusable dashboard migration templates, data source connection templates, naming convention standards and governance configuration playbooks as factory accelerators.
  • Lead performance optimisation — profiling legacy dashboard performance baselines, designing Tableau Next data extracts and published data sources to meet or exceed baseline performance
  • establishing performance monitoring.
  • Lead cutover planning and execution — including legacy BI platform deprecation scheduling, user access migration, Tableau Next URL/bookmark migration for key dashboards and post-go-live self-service training.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks proactively — data source credential migration, calculated field logic parity gaps, row-level security re-implementation, extract refresh SLA continuity and legacy report complexity underestimation.
  • Contribute to the Migration Factory by building reusable Tableau Next migration playbooks, dashboard assessment tools, data source templates and performance benchmarking scripts to reduce wave delivery time.
  • CORE Technical Skill (Must Have): Tableau Next Platform Expertise: Deep hands-on knowledge of Tableau Next — dashboards, LOD expressions, table calculations, set actions, dashboard extensions, flows (Tableau Prep Builder) and Tableau Pulse.
  • Tableau Site & Governance Architecture: Experience designing Tableau Cloud/Server site structure, project hierarchy, permission model, content certification, data quality warnings and usage reporting.
  • Data Source Architecture: Advanced expertise in Tableau data source design — live vs extract strategies, published data sources, virtual connections, data policies, multi-connection blending and extract optimisation.
  • Cloud Data Platform Integration: Hands-on experience connecting Tableau to Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Azure Synapse, Salesforce Data Cloud and other modern cloud data platforms.
  • Legacy BI Migration: Proven experience assessing and migrating BI content from at least one legacy platform (Cognos, Business Objects, Power BI, MicroStrategy, Looker, legacy Tableau Server) to Tableau Next.
  • Semantic Layer Translation: Ability to translate legacy semantic models, universes and subject areas into Tableau-native calculated fields, parameters and published data source structures.
  • Row-Level Security (RLS): Expertise in re-implementing legacy BI row-level security using Tableau user filters, data policies and entitlement table patterns.
  • Performance Optimisation: Deep understanding of Tableau performance optimisation — extract design, query optimisation, dashboard caching, data source partitioning and performance recorder usage.
  • Data Architecture: Strong understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling, star/snowflake schemas, and how data model design impacts Tableau dashboard performance.
  • Preferred Skills (Good to have): Experience migrating from IBM Cognos, SAP Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Microsoft Power BI or Looker to Tableau Next Knowledge of dbt (data build tool) for data transformation upstream of Tableau data sources Experience with Salesforce Data Cloud as a Tableau Next data source for unified customer analytics Familiarity with Tableau Embedded Analytics for migrating legacy embedded BI into Salesforce or external applications Understanding of Tableau Bridge for on-premises data source connectivity in cloud-to-cloud migration scenarios Knowledge of CRM Analytics (Einstein Analytics) for hybrid Salesforce + Tableau Next analytics architectures Experience with Apache Airflow, dbt Cloud or similar orchestration tools for managing upstream data pipeline dependencies EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, analytics and data platform solutions 5+ years of hands-on Tableau development and architecture experience, including at least 2 Tableau Cloud or Server migration projects 3+ years of client-facing advisory or architecture roles on enterprise BI transformation programmes SALESFORCE & PLATFORM CERTIFICATIONS Tableau Certified Architect (Preferred) Tableau Certified Data Analyst (Required) Salesforce Certified CRM Analytics and Einstein Discovery Consultant (Required) Salesforce Data Cloud Consultant (Preferred) Snowflake SnowPro Core or Advanced (Preferred) Databricks Certified Associate Developer (Preferred) dbt Analytics Engineering Certification (Preferred) Demonstrated experience migrating large BI content estates (500+ reports/dashboards) from legacy platforms to Tableau Unleash Your Potential When you join Salesforce, you’ll be limitless in all areas of your life.
