Overview Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services, with an infrastructure footprint that supports customers and businesses worldwide. Within DC Ops Enablement, this Business Program Manager will lead cross-functional programs that improve operational efficiency, reduce risk, and make it easier for partners and suppliers to work with Microsoft.

The Business Program Manager leads end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional programs across the Americas datacenter portfolio. This role turns ambiguous problem spaces into structured programs with clear owners, milestones, and measurable outcomes.

Success requires initiative, the ability to drive results through partners across multiple functions, and the discipline to communicate business impact clearly up and down multiple organizations. With environmental sustainability and optimization at the forefront of our data center design and operations, we continue to grow and evolve as we meet the ever-changing business demands that hold Microsoft as a world-class cloud provider.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities Program leadership Lead the full lifecycle of assigned programs — from initial problem framing and scoping through structure, execution, and closeout — operating independently without needing signifcant oversight. Break ambiguous, undefined problem spaces into a clear program structure: defined workstreams, sequenced milestones, decision points, and named owners for each piece of work.

Build and maintain integrated program plans that keep scope, schedule, dependencies, and resourcing visible to all stakeholders. Drive execution through cross-functional partners who do not report to this role, holding others accountable to commitments and dates through influence rather than authority.

Anticipate risks and blockers early, and take initiative to resolve them — engaging the right people and driving to a decision rather than waiting for direction. Prioritize the highest-value work, make trade-off recommendations when capacity is constrained, and see committed work through to completion.

Stakeholder and cross-functional coordination Coordinate a broad set of stakeholders across Legal, EHS, Insurance, Finance, Procurement, Engineering and Operations, aligning them on shared requirements, decisions, and accountability. Serve as a central point of contact for assigned programs, translating between technical operations teams and business or finance leaders so each audience understands what matters to them.

Build durable working relationships across functions. Executive communication and reporting Produce concise, executive-style communications that make complex information easily consumed. Report progress on scope, schedule, and outcomes on a consistent cadence, and prepare materials for leadership reviews and steering committees.

Surface issues and needed decisions proactively, giving leaders enough context and options to act without additional back-and-forth. Define and track the program metrics that matter — cost, quality, resources, risk exposure, and efficiency.

Tooling and process improvement Gather and document detailed requirements for enablement tools and workflows, translating business needs into clear specifications for engineering or vendor partners. Partner with tool owners through build, testing, and rollout, iterating based on stakeholder feedback to ensure the end product is usable and adopted.

Design lightweight, scalable processes that reduce redundant work and standardize how programs are initiated, governed, and measured across sites and regions. Document processes, decisions, and lessons learned so programs are repeatable and knowledge is retained as teams and priorities change.

Identify opportunities to simplify or automate manual steps, and build the case for those improvements with clear before-and-after impact.
