As part of CEAI, you will help build the next generation of AI-powered platforms, copilots, agents, data systems, and business applications that support thousands of employees and millions of customer interactions worldwide. You will work at the intersection of engineering, AI, data, and business transformation, shaping how Microsoft operates as a frontier organization powered by AI We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join CEAI and help define the future of AI-native engineering at Microsoft.

In this role, you will architect and build large-scale cloud services, intelligent agents, copilots, data platforms, and business applications that accelerate decision making, automate complex workflows, and unlock new business value. Success in this role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, cloud-native architecture experience, technical leadership, and a deep curiosity for applying AI to solve business problems at scale.

Responsibilities Engineering & Architecture Design, develop, and operate highly scalable, secure, and resilient cloud services, platforms, and applications running on Microsoft Azure. Lead architecture and technical design discussions for large-scale distributed systems and AI-powered business solutions.

Define technical direction and establish engineering patterns, standards, and best practices across services and platforms. Drive end-to-end delivery from design through implementation, deployment, monitoring, and long-term operations. AI-Native Engineering Design and build AI-powered applications, copilots, agents, and intelligent workflows that transform business processes and customer experiences.

Apply large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), semantic search, agent orchestration, and evaluation frameworks to solve real-world business challenges. Leverage AI-native engineering practices including specification-driven development, agent-assisted coding, automated evaluations, and AI-enabled software lifecycle workflows.

Partner with Applied Scientists and Data Science teams to operationalize AI solutions in production. Data & Analytics Architect and build modern data platforms leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, ADLS Gen2, and related Azure services.

Drive unified data models, semantic models, and AI-ready data foundations that enable trusted enterprise insights. Ensure strong governance, security, lineage, observability, and data quality across analytical and AI workloads. Enable self-service analytics and next-generation reporting experiences through semantic models and intelligent insights.

Engineering Excellence Develop clean, maintainable, secure, and well-tested code using technologies such as C#, Python, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern cloud services. Lead code reviews and mentor engineers to raise engineering quality across the team.

Drive automation, CI/CD maturity, reliability engineering, and operational excellence. Participate in live-site operations, incident response, and continuous service improvements. Leadership & Collaboration Provide technical leadership across multiple projects and influence engineering decisions beyond immediate team boundaries.

Partner closely with product managers, architects, business stakeholders, and customer-facing teams to identify opportunities for innovation and impact. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of an inclusive, high-performing engineering culture.

Champion AI adoption and help shape CEAI's AI-native engineering transformation. Qualifications Basic / Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field AND 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, OR equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of experience designing and building scalable cloud-native applications and services.

Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages including C#, Python, or TypeScript. Experience building and operating services on Microsoft Azure or equivalent cloud platforms. Proven experience driving technical design, implementation, deployment, and live-site operations for production systems.

Experience working with distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and large-scale data platforms. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Demonstrated growth mindset and passion for continuous learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building AI-native solutions including copilots, agents, retrieval systems, LLM applications, and autonomous workflows.
  • Experience with Azure AI Foundry, OpenAI services, Semantic Kernel, LangChain, MCP, or comparable AI orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Lakehouse architectures, Power BI semantic models, and enterprise analytics platforms.
  • Experience implementing agentic workflows, AI-assisted SDLC practices, and AI-enabled engineering productivity solutions.
  • Familiarity with Responsible AI, model evaluation, AI governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience building enterprise-grade SaaS applications serving large-scale global customers.
  • Experience leading cross-team engineering initiatives and influencing technical direction across organizations.
  • Passion for advancing AI-native engineering and transforming how software is designed, built, and operated.
