About The Role
We are looking for a full-time Head of Engineering to help us build a securities Platform for financial institutions, the first API of that kind in Europe. You will lead the Platform Tribe, which comprises three teams. These teams are responsible for critical domains such as Infrastructure, Reliability and Development Tooling and shared libraries, all of which are essential for Upvest’s Investment API.
The tribe’s mission: The Platform Tribe exists to give every engineer at Upvest the fastest, safest path from idea to production. We own the foundations that make great engineering possible: the infrastructure teams build on, the tools they build with, the shared libraries that let them move fast without reinventing the wheel, and the observability and reliability practices that keep our systems trustworthy at scale.

What You’ll Do
- Own and shape the tribe's roadmap with real autonomy over what we build and why Partner closely with product tribes to understand their needs and translate them into platform priorities Work with modern tools and technologies, with real influence over our technical direction and stack Directly influence the reliability, velocity
- quality of every product we ship What you bring: Ability to bridge strategic "why" with engineering solutions, actively discussing tradeoffs and proactively suggesting ideas, demonstrating a strong product engineering mindset.
- Strong interest in Upvest's product domains and a proactive desire to understand the business use cases Upvest enables for clients.
- Experience in leading and growing larger engineering teams in a technical leadership capacity.
- Prior experience within the Fintech domain.
- Strong technical expertise and hands-on experience in developing highly scalable, distributed, asynchronous, and resilient platforms.
- Strong work ethic and principles such as pragmatism.
- A security-focused mindset and a high sense of taking ownership.
- Excitement to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment.
