Director, Medical Insights Lead – US Oncology Location: Durham, NC or Philadelphia, PA At GSK, Medical Affairs plays a critical role in advancing patient care by communicating the science behind our medicines and diseases. We generate and translate evidence to help healthcare professionals, patients, and health systems make informed decisions that improve outcomes.
Medical Insights are a key enabler of this mission—providing a deep understanding of stakeholder needs, behaviors, and motivations across the healthcare ecosystem along with assessments of the effectiveness of engagement and education in advancing knowledge, understanding, and scientific belief in treatment and prevention options.
As Director, Medical Insights & Analytics (US Oncology) , within the enterprise Medical Analytics team, you will serve as a strategic thought partner to US Medical Affairs (USMA) leadership, enabling data-driven decision making across GSK’s oncology portfolio.
You will lead end-to-end insights generation planning, translate complex data into actionable business insights, and embed impact and value measurement into medical affairs strategies. You will shape and prioritize the medical insights agenda across assets and disease areas, ensuring alignment to critical business questions and enterprise priorities.
In addition, you will play a key role in advancing GSK’s transformation into a more integrated, data-driven insights ecosystem through close collaboration with Digital Data and Tech (DD&T) and Transformation Strategy & Operations (TSO) teams.
This is a high-visibility leadership role with responsibility for team leadership, cross-functional influence, and delivering measurable impact through medical insights within US Oncology
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership Serve as the primary strategic insights partner to the Therapeutic Area Head, enabling evidence-based decision making across oncology assets Frame and prioritize critical business questions, translating them into actionable insight generation plans aligned to USMA and enterprise objectives Develop a deep understanding of the therapeutic areas (TAs) you work in to act as the expert for the TA within the Medical Analytics team (including in-depth asset knowledge, customer segments, competitive environment
- strategies/tactics) Act as a subject matter expert across oncology insights, integrating perspectives across primary research, secondary data
- field intelligence Build trust as an unbiased advisor, influencing senior stakeholders through objective, insight-driven recommendations Insights Generation & Analytics Oversight Oversee the design and execution of insights generation initiatives (e.g., market research, secondary analyses) in partnership with Medical Analytics Centers of Excellence to ensure outputs are analytically robust and aligned to strategic objectives Ensure synthesis of diverse data sources into cohesive, insight-driven narratives that uncover stakeholder motivations and unmet needs Guide teams in moving beyond data reporting to true insight generation, with clear articulation of implications and recommended actions Responsibly applies Gen AI to accelerate medical insight generation, using strong prompt engineering and critical evaluation to ensure outputs are evidence-based, unbiased

- Basic Qualifications: BA/BS in applied quantitative sciences discipline (Business, Life Sciences, Analytics, Market Research, Healthcare Consulting or related field) 7–10 years of experience, including 3–5+ years in healthcare, applying insights and analytics to inform business decisions Strong understanding of insights generation methodologies and analytical frameworks Proven ability to synthesize multiple data sources into actionable insights Matrix leadership experience
