Credit Risk Review (CRR) provides independent, objective, reliable, valued and timely assurance to the Boards, the Committees, the Citigroup Chief Risk Officer (“Citigroup CRO”), Citibank CRO, senior management and regulators over the effectiveness of credit risk management and the ability of the Business and independent Risk Management to identify, monitor and mitigate current and emerging risks across Citigroup and Citibank.
The Credit Risk Review Senior Group Manager is responsible for leading a team of professional credit reviewers (including C14 Senior Lead Reviewers, C13 Credit Reviewer, and Analysts) and independently managing all aspects of assigned Review Entities.
Responsibilities include execution of Business Monitoring and Reviews in accordance with the CRR Manual, monitoring and evaluation of portfolios, strategies, and credit risks, assessment of the effectiveness of credit risk management of assigned businesses, proposal of pragmatic solutions to risk and control issues, and maintaining ongoing contact with a Review Entity’s senior management through continuous Business Monitoring and corrective action follow-up where applicable.
The role also incorporates leading the team in the effective use of Citi-approved AI-enabled tools to enhance analytical depth, streamline review execution, and strengthen trend identification while maintaining full reviewer judgment
Key Responsibilities
- Management and leadership of CRR Review Entities through quarterly Business Monitoring and periodic Reviews, including direct supervision, coaching
- development of a team of C14 Senior Lead Reviewers, C13 Credit Reviewers
- Analysts Assessment of the effectiveness of credit risk management at Citi and the ability of the Business and Independent Risk to identify, monitor and mitigate current and emerging credit risks across Citigroup and Citibank Assessment of the quality of assigned portfolios and relationships, including identification and evaluation of emerging risks Assessment of the quality and adequacy of credit analysis and exposure analysis as well as accuracy and appropriateness of risk ratings and classifications of corporate, commercial and high-net worth relationships Assessment of the effectiveness of the credit risk processes and standards of assigned Review Entities to promote leading practices and identify opportunities for improvements Assessment of Business and Risk staffing levels to determine the effects on assigned Review Entities, as well as managing team capacity and resource allocation Preparation and approval of Credit Assessment Documents in accordance with and at the quality standards required by the CRR Manual and Review Guides, incorporating AI tools as appropriate for drafting support, document comparison
- consistency checks Approval of relationship-level file testing prepared by CRR Wholesale Analysts, Guest Reviewers
- C13/C14 Credit Review Officers Evaluation of the appropriateness of Corrective Action Plans resulting from Reviews or Business Monitoring
- subsequent validation of the effectiveness of the same after implementation by the Business Accountability for the quality, consistency
- timely delivery of teamwork products that include Credit Assessment Documents, Sample Rationale Documents
- CRR Wholesale Review Reports created for the assigned Review Entities Support Head of CRR Wholesale and Segment Heads on regional and/or global tasks and strategic initiatives Proactive communication to Segment Heads, Team Leads, Head of CRR Wholesale
- CRR Senior Management of any concerns, systemic control issues, and/or emerging risks that impacting the assigned Review Entities Travel required (25% to 50% depending on Region and portfolio complexity) Knowledge/Experience: Demonstrable financial services experience including 15+ years of credit experience in corporate, commercial
- retail banking Proven track record of managing, coaching
- leading professional credit review or risk management teams, preferably in a global or multi-regional environment Work experience in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or similar with credit or financial statement analysis experience Good knowledge of capital markets products, including derivatives Expert in risk analysis and risk management processes for one or more products and lending areas Fully conversant in credit policy matters with proven sound judgment Regulatory experience or relevant experience in a similar role at another institution is desirable Skills/Competencies: Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes and trends and anticipate horizon issues Ability to recognize emerging risks, including operational risk Proven project management skills, with the ability to coordinate and manage large review teams and complex review schedules in different regions Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority, including executive management and regulators Proven ability to build and maintain relationships and exert influence without direct authority Knowledge of Citi's organization and systems preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel
- PowerPoint) and comfortable leading teams in the use of AI-enabled productivity, drafting
