Job Summary We hold approximately 416,000 net acres in the Midland Basin, located in west Texas. The current development strategy is focused on full-field development utilizing multi-well pad projects targeting Barnett, Spraberry and Wolfcamp reservoir targets.

We operated three rigs and one frac crew on average during 2025, resulting in 86 operated wells drilled and 94 operated wells brought online. During 2025, net production averaged 192 MBOED. Position Overview The Telecommunications Engineer / Architect is responsible for the architecture, deployment, operation, and sustainment of field communications infrastructure supporting ConocoPhillips assets across remote, industrial, and environmentally challenging environments.

This role ensures secure, resilient, and compliant connectivity by delivering RF, wireless, cellular, satellite (LEO), and supporting power solutions aligned with operational, safety, and business priorities. The role partners closely with Field Operations, Digital Technologies, IT, OT, Engineering, and external service providers to modernize field connectivity while maintaining high availability for mission critical operations This position is based in Midland, TX.

Click here to learn more about living and working in Midland. Your responsibilities may include: Operational Support Provide day-to-day operational support for field communications assets, including routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs.

Maintain accurate and current documentation, including network diagrams, site layouts, inventories, standards, and operating procedures. Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams for equipment installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, and service support.

Support incident response and recovery efforts to restore connectivity with minimal operational impact. Ensure telecommunications solutions comply with ConocoPhillips IT and OT security standards. Ensure field communications systems meet operational safety, reliability, and resiliency standards.

Utilize network and performance monitoring tools to assess availability, latency, throughput, signal integrity, and resiliency. Provide clear, concise reporting on network health, incidents, risks, and asset status to technical and business stakeholders.

Contribute to data-driven decision making around capacity planning, modernization, and investment prioritization. Field Communications Architecture & Infrastructure Own the end-to-end lifecycle of field telecommunications systems, including towers, RF infrastructure, wireless networks, satellite connectivity, and supporting equipment.

Design, deploy, and maintain point-to-point and multipoint wireless networks supporting drilling, production, facilities, and remote offices. Architect and support field Wi-Fi networks to enable operational and business use cases. Design, deploy, and support cellular connectivity solutions, including Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and repeater technologies.

Design, deploy, and operationalize Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite solutions (e.g., Starlink or equivalent) to enable connectivity at remote or infrastructure constrained locations. Develop hybrid connectivity architectures integrating LEO satellite, terrestrial wireless, cellular, and fiber solutions.

Perform RF design, signal testing, performance tuning, and troubleshooting to ensure reliable coverage and throughput. Design and support power systems for field communications infrastructure, including solar, battery, backup, and redundant power solutions.

Ensure telecommunications equipment is engineered for resilience in extreme environmental conditions (temperature, dust, weather, remote access). Monitor and mitigate environmental risks that may impact connectivity and uptime. Lead or support communications infrastructure projects, including: New tower and site deployments, RF link upgrades and expansions, Field Wi-Fi refreshes, LEO satellite deployments and scaling, Power and resiliency improvements.

Collaborate with Engineering, IT, OT, Digital, and Operations teams to align telecommunications capabilities with evolving asset needs. Support standardization, simplification, and modernization initiatives across assets to improve reliability and reduce operational risk.

Required Qualifications: Legally authorized to work in the United States. Current and valid driver's license. 5 or more years of experience with RF systems, wireless networking, and field communications. 5 or more years of experience in cellular technologies, including Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and repeater solutions.

Advanced level of knowledge with power systems supporting telecommunications infrastructure (solar, battery, backup, redundancy). Advanced level of proficiency in network design, signal testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

Intermediate level of proficiency with network monitoring and reporting tools. Ability to work safely and effectively in remote, industrial, and environmentally challenging operating environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Experience supporting oil & gas, industrial, or other critical infrastructure environments.
  • Familiarity with vendor managed connectivity models and service provider coordination.
  • Knowledge of operational safety standards and risk management practices.
  • Experience delivering telecommunications, connectivity, or infrastructure projects.
  • Working knowledge of FCC regulations and RF compliance requirements.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and supporting Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity solutions (e.g., Starlink or equivalent) for remote and industrial environments.
