The pay range is $95,000.00 - $171,000.00 Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications. With the broad range of complementary capabilities in Communications, Sustainability, Risk, Reputation Management, this team helps Target manage the needs and expectations of our team, guests, media, communities, elected officials, and other stakeholders.

This role leads how Corporate Affairs (CA) uses intelligence to inform decisions, identify opportunities, anticipate risk, and strengthen Target’s reputation. The Sr. Consultant is responsible for embedding intelligence directly into CA priorities and initiatives, ensuring teams have the data, insights, and foresight needed to make informed, timely decisions.

This includes directing how intelligence is applied across key workstreams, connecting insights on risk, reputation, stakeholders, and emerging issues into clear, actionable guidance. The role brings deep expertise in building and scaling an intelligence lifecycle—defining how data is sourced, analyzed, synthesized, and delivered for maximum impact.

It leads the development of consistent intelligence approaches and deliverables for priority projects, ensuring insights are forward-looking, relevant, and aligned to business needs. A key focus is developing and driving adoption of predictive, leading indicators that identify reputational risks and opportunities early and enable proactive planning.

In addition, this role helps connect and activate a network of intelligence sources across the company, ensuring insights are shared and leveraged across teams. It supports and enhances the central CA information hub (TGT Live), contributes to enterprise data and insights routines, and ensures intelligence is integrated into planning and decision-making processes.

The Director also helps oversees ongoing monitoring and deep-dive analysis, ensuring Corporate Affairs maintains a real-time understanding of the external environment and can respond quickly and effectively. Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description.

About You: 10 to 15 plus years of experience leading process and/or systems initiatives Excellent written, oral and facilitation communication skills Experience conducting research and distilling complex subjects into easy to digest insights and recommendations Highly organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple issues and tasks at the same time; strong sense of urgency Experience participating on cross-functional teams and efforts in high-pressure situations and collaborating across departments Bias for action and strong ability to execute with minimal oversight: coordinate, prioritize, establish goals, ensure timelines are being met and use resources Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills with strong leadership skills Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs.

A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
