In this vital role, you will serve as the “CEO of the molecule,” driving strategy, execution, and value realization for UPLIZNA. The Executive Director, Global Product Team Lead (GPTL) will be the single point of accountability for the product, responsible for leading cross-functional teams in the design, integration, and execution of strategy across the product lifecycle—from development through launch and in-line optimization.

The GPTL has enterprise accountability for end-to-end product strategy, prioritization, and delivery, ensuring integrated decision-making, disciplined governance, and maximization of asset value. This role is central to driving strategic alignment, accelerating decision-making, managing risk, and ensuring execution against key milestones while maintaining a patient-first mindset.

The Executive Director, GPTL is a global role requiring extensive cross-functional leadership, communication, and managerial capabilities across internal, external, and regional stakeholders. Responsibilities include: Product Strategy & Value Maximization Own the integrated product strategy and lifecycle roadmap for UPLIZNA, ensuring alignment of scientific, regulatory, medical, access, operational, and commercial priorities Define strategic options, assess tradeoffs, and drive decisions that maximize patient impact and long-term asset value across indications and geographies.

Integrate portfolio context, competitive intelligence, and disease-area insights into strategic recommendations Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution Lead the global Product Team and serve as the single point of integration across Development, Medical, Regulatory, Value & Access, Operations, Manufacturing, and Commercial functions Drive accountability for execution, proactively identify risks, remove decision bottlenecks, and ensure alignment against key milestones and objectives.

Establish effective team culture, operating principles, decision rights, and escalation pathways Governance & Enterprise Decision-Making Lead engagement with Therapeutic Area Governance, Product Governance, and portfolio forums, ensuring high-quality decision-making and organizational alignment Present strategic recommendations, risks, financial implications, and tradeoffs to senior leadership and governance bodies Ensure timely escalation and resolution of issues that materially impact value, timelines, or risk Product Planning & Resource Management Own key enterprise deliverables, including the Target Product Profile, Integrated Product Strategy, lifecycle roadmap, and evidence generation plans Partner with cross-functional leaders to manage financial planning, forecasting, resource allocation, and investment decisions that support product objectives Commercial Integration & Lifecycle Leadership Partner closely with the Global Marketing Lead to ensure alignment between product strategy and commercial strategy Drive lifecycle management and Patient Impact Expansion opportunities while ensuring product decisions are translated into meaningful commercial and patient outcomes Leadership & Culture Serve as the enterprise steward of the product, balancing near-term execution with long-term portfolio priorities Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement while developing and mentoring team members Model Amgen's values—Integrate, Adapt, Inspire, and Accelerate—in all aspects of leadership What we expect of you We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients.

The candidate we seek is an experienced leader with the following qualifications. They will also embody the Amgen leadership attributes which are: Inspire: Create a connected, inclusive, and inspiring work environment that empowers talent to thrive Accelerate: Enable speed that matches the urgency of patient needs by encouraging progress over perfection Integrate: Connect the dots to amplify the collective power of Amgen to drive results for patients, staff, and shareholders Adapt: Lead through change by adapting to an ever-changing environment and defining a clear course of action to deliver results Basic Qualifications: Doctorate degree and 6 years of product strategy experience; OR Master’s degree and 10 years of product strategy experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of product strategy experience 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources Preferred Qualifications: 10+ years of industry experience within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare-related fields Proven experience leading complex, global, cross-functional product teams Deep understanding of development-to-commercial product lifecycles Enterprise decision-making and governance leadership experience Advanced understanding of key functions including Research, Pre-Clinical, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Commercial Business and financial acumen, with the ability to connect technical program drivers to commercial value and enterprise strategy Executive communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and align senior stakeholders Ability to synthesize complex information into clear strategic recommendations and governance decisions Executive foresight to anticipate disease-area evolution, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, balancing speed, rigor, and organizational alignment Integrator who connects people, ideas, functions, and priorities to maximize enterprise impact Ability to coach, motivate, and develop talent while creating high-performing teams Ability to operate credibly and effectively with senior executives across R&D and Commercial organizations What you can expect of us As we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for your professional and personal growth and well-being.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is $334,190 to $452,140. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
