ROLE SUMMARY: You will sit at the heart of the D&A Engineering leadership team, supporting the CIO office and senior leaders. As the Assistant Business Manager runs and continuously improves the operating rhythm for D&A Engineering, ensuring leadership time is focused on the right priorities, with clear decisions and outcomes.

This is a high-impact, high-trust role requiring close partnership with senior executives, strong judgement, and comfort operating at pace. A key part of the role is embedding AI-enabled and automated ways of working into business management routines to improve efficiency, consistency, and insight.

Over time, you will be expected to progress into a Business Manager/Chief of Staff position, so enterprise mindset, breadth, and leadership maturity are essential. Your responsibilities will include: Running and continuously improving the D&A Engineering operating rhythm.

Coordinating the activity across strategy, delivery, people, finance, risk, and governance. Enabling the D&A CIO and leadership team to execute with clarity, pace, and accountability. Tracking priorities, surface risks and dependencies, and drive follow-through on actions.

Embedding AI, automation, and repeatable tooling to improve business management effectiveness. Building capability and confidence to progress toward a future Business Manager or Chief of Staff-style role. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Run and continuously improve the D&A Engineering operating rhythm, including leadership meetings, governance forums, planning cycles, action tracking, and follow-up.

Coordinate the inputs, timelines, templates, submissions, agendas, materials, and follow-through needed to keep forums and planning processes running effectively. Embed AI-enabled and automated ways of working into core business management routines, reducing manual effort and improving the consistency, speed, and quality of reporting, briefing preparation, meeting outputs, action tracking, insight generation, and decision support.

Track priorities, milestones, dependencies, risks, actions, and outcomes across D&A Engineering, ensuring progress is visible and follow-up is clear. Support the preparation of concise, decision-focused materials, including leadership briefings, business cases, board papers, presentations, updates, and planning documents.

Work closely with the CIO office, leadership team, and key Group stakeholders to coordinate activity, gather inputs, resolve issues, and support effective delivery. Develop and maintain metrics, dashboards, trackers, and reporting routines to monitor effectiveness, identify trends, and support recommendations for process improvement.

Identify opportunities to improve business management processes, governance, reporting, and ways of working, using AI, automation, tooling, and repeatable practices wherever appropriate. Support financial, people, risk, governance, and operational processes by coordinating inputs, preparing materials, tracking actions, and ensuring deadlines are met.

Build strong relationships with stakeholders across technology and enterprise functions, using clear communication and sound judgement to support aligned outcomes. Operate with discretion, pace, resilience, and professionalism in a complex, fast-moving environment.

Build the breadth, confidence, and leadership maturity to progress toward a future Business Manager or Chief of Staff-style role. WHAT YOU'LL BRING: Experience in business management, COO, or Chief of Staff-style roles. Strong judgement, critical thinking, and executive-level communication skills.

Proven ability to run operating rhythms in complex, global organisations. Practical experience using AI, automation, reporting, workflow, or productivity tools to improve operational efficiency and insight. Credibility working with senior technology and enterprise leaders.
