Role Purpose The Senior Designer – Innovation & Experience plays a key role in shaping the design and experience direction for Telstra’s future retail environments. This is a hands-on design role (not leading a group of designers). Operating within the Innovation & Experience stream, this role contributes to defining and evolving experience direction, supporting flagship experience, future retail concepts and translating innovation into scalable formats across the network.
Key Accountabilities Design Direction & Experience Contribute to defining Telstra’s retail innovation and experience strategy. Support development of experience principles, design intent and success measures. Apply a strong design lens across initiatives, ensuring alignment to customer, brand and business objectives.
Innovation & Flagship Delivery Lead or support design of flagship, icon and pilot environments as test‑beds for future retail. Develop concepts, prototypes and spatial experiences that explore new formats and service models. Translate innovation into practical, scalable design outcomes.
Balance ambition with feasibility, operational requirements and commercial outcomes. Collaboration & Influence Collaborate across Retail Operations, Brand, Marketing, Product, Space Planning and Technology. Partner with agencies, vendors and consultants to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Present design concepts clearly and contribute to stakeholder alignment and decision-making. Design Execution & Quality Deliver high standards of design thinking, craft and execution. Translate strategy into cohesive spatial and experiential solutions.
Support documentation, prototyping and pilot delivery. Embed learnings into future design improvements and formats. Business Impact Contribute to: Improved customer experience and NPS Stronger brand differentiation Enhanced retail and service performance Ensure design outcomes are customer-led, insight-driven and commercially viable.
Skills & Experience Tertiary qualification in Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Experience Design or similar. Strong experience delivering design outcomes within complex retail or service environments. Ability to contribute to experience strategy and translate into physical environments.
Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration capability. Understanding of end‑to‑end retail ecosystems and customer journeys. Ability to balance creative ambition with practical and commercial constraints. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
Tools & Programs Required Adobe Creative Cloud Photoshop — image manipulation, mockups, retouching Illustrator — vector graphics, iconography, signage InDesign — layouts, playbooks, presentations SketchUp 3D modelling for retail environments and spatial concept development Enscape (or equivalent) Real-time rendering and visualisation for stakeholder walkthroughs Microsoft Office Suite & Copilot Presentation development, documentation and workflow efficiency Desirable AutoCAD Technical drawings, plans and elevations If you enjoy collaborating with different people and delivering amazing experiences for the customer, we want to hear from you!
