WPVI serves close to 7 million people 2+ who reside in the Delaware Valley, an area covering Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Delaware. In the past year, Action News has won 2,737 out of 2,779 newscasts in adults 18+ for a winning percentage of 99.8%.
On average, Action News captures nearly 45% of all adult news viewers, 25-54. WPVI also owns and produces the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade, the nation's oldest. This person will be tasked with directing live broadcast and streaming news programs using both automated television production systems and a conventional production environment.
This position also requires knowledge of television audio setup and execution for studio and field productions. What You Will Do Direct live local newscasts and taped special programs using the Ross Overdrive Production System Direct live and taped special event programs in a conventional Production Truck environment Required Qualifications & Skills A minimum of three years of directing experience in a local or national news organization Thorough knowledge of conventional and automated television production systems Thorough knowledge of studio and field video and audio production Ability to work nights, weekends, early mornings, and holidays Ability to clearly and concisely communicate to all crew members during the live telecast Experience Directing live, linear newscasts using automated production systems (i.e., Ross Overdrive, Grass Valley Ignite, Sony ELC) Proven leadership experience Required Education High School Diploma Preferred Education College or Technical School Diploma The hiring range for this position in Philadelphia is $85,300 to $114,300 per year.
The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
