Business Unit: Brocade Switch and Networking (BSN) Location: On-site (100% on-site attendance required) Employment Type: Full-time About the Role The Brocade Switch and Networking (BSN) business unit of Broadcom is seeking a highly skilled Software QA Test Engineer to test and verify Brocade’s storage area network (SAN) based networked solutions.
In this role, you will be an integral part of a high-performing test team responsible for verifying Brocade’s Fabric OS, associated hardware switching platforms, management APIs, and automation script development. The ideal candidate possesses a solid foundation in software and hardware engineering principles, a deep understanding of system quality assurance, and a proven track record of designing, executing, and reporting on complex test plans.
We are looking for a professional skilled in both manual and automated testing, with hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise operating systems. An individual proficient in offensive security, incident response, threat intelligence, and Python (or similar scripting languages) for test automation.
Primary Responsibilities As a Software QA Test Engineer, you will own the end-to-end quality assurance process for your assigned areas. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Test Strategy & Planning: Collaborate closely with developers and product managers to translate technical specifications into comprehensive test plans covering functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.
Defect Management: Partner with development teams to identify, document, investigate, and track software defects and bugs to resolution using industry-standard tools (e.g., Jira). Execution & Automation: Design, execute, and maintain test cases, leveraging automation scripting to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
Reporting & Advisory: Assess test execution progress, analyze results, and advise area leads and management on the overall quality status of your assigned test domains. Cross-Functional Communication: Effectively communicate test progress, defect status, technical risks, and release recommendations to management, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
Qualifications & Requirements (Must Have) Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Cyber Security, Electrical, or equivalent). Experience: Minimum of 8 years of hands-on software testing experience. QA Methodologies: Robust understanding of software testing methodologies, including functional, negative, boundary, performance, scale, and longevity testing.
Operating Systems & Virtualization: Hands-on experience with the installation, configuration, usage, and troubleshooting of Linux, Windows, VMware environments, AAA infrastructure, Federated IDP infrastructure, PQC infrastructure, and Vulnerability/Intrusive scanner applications.
Automation Scripting: Proficient in at least one scripting language (preferably Python) for test automation. Networking & Protocols: Solid foundational knowledge of enterprise networking, routing, cryptography, and core communication protocols (TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, SSH, HTTPS).
Storage Systems: Solid foundational knowledge of SAN/Storage technologies. Professional Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a highly detail-oriented approach. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage parallel projects in a fast-paced environment.
Work Arrangement: This position requires 100% on-site attendance . Highly Desired Skills & Experience In-depth SAN protocol knowledge (Fibre Channel, FCIP, FICON). Active certification in: OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional), GWAPT (GIAC Web Application Penetration Tester), GXPN (GIAC Exploit Researcher and Advanced Penetration Tester), CASE (Certified Application Security Engineer - Python), CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional).
Security Frameworks: Familiarity with secure coding principles, threat modeling methodologies (e.g., STRIDE), and standard vulnerability ranking metrics (CVSS). Security Regulatory Bodies: Experience with pursuing product certification or compliance with regulatory bodies such as FIPS, CC, BSI, EUCC, NIST2, DORA, and CRA.
Strong understanding of REST API concepts, usage, and testing methodologies. Hands-on Brocade SAN administration experience.
