We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Senior Scientis t with experience in hematology oncology and a track record of scientific excellence to join our t eam in Waltham, MA, USA. As a Senior Scien t i s t , you will be leading hands-on research to evaluate the efficacy and mechanisms of small molecules in hematology oncology .

You will utilize your cancer biology experience and in vivo expertise to generate robust pharmacology datasets that will have a direct impact on the oncology drug discovery pipeline. Accountabilities Working in this laboratory-based position in Hematology Oncology In Vivo Pharmacology, you will: Develop , design, conduct and analyze in vivo experiments to assess the PK/PD/ efficacy relationships and function of novel cancer therapeutics .

Work collaboratively across multiple project teams and scientific disciplines to advance drug projects . Work with various software programs and d a tabases , including AI platforms to capture all study dat a and data mining . Stay up to date with relevant scientific and technical expertise in cancer biology and pharmacology by actively reading the literature , attending relevant conference s .

Independently provide data analysis , troubleshooting and interpretation Manage timelines for study delivery . Proactively and clearly communicate within the in vivo team and the broader AZ organization . B ring genuine curiosity for in vivo oncology research .

Essential Requirements PhD with 3+ yrs research experience in academia, biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry . D emonstrated ability to deliver impactful data and effectively lead multiple projects from an in vivo perspective . Must have strong h ands-on experience (leading from the bench) developing and working with oncology in vivo mouse models including xenografts (subcutaneous and disseminated models) .

Hands-on experience handling rodents (mice required , rats preferred) and with high proficiency in oral, int ra per it oneal, and intravenous dosing . Must be comfortable and highly proficient working with different rodent strains including NSG mice , C57BL6 mice , SRG rats, etc.

Ability to deliver in vivo pharmacology data packages for small molecule programs in rodents tumor models including dose-finding tolerability studies, PK/PD , and efficacy studies. Complex mouse model developme nt experience is highly desirable .

Experience in u s ing molecular and cellular biology techniques such as immunoblotting platforms , flow cytometr y , RT-PCR platforms , and MSD / ELISA assay development is required . Develop ment and validat ion of in vivo PD assays such as qPCR, MSD, and ELISA for evaluating analytes of interest from in vivo samples from tumor, tissue , bone marrow, blood and urine samples for biomarker evaluation.

Excellent communication, organizational, and listening skills are required . Familiarity with software programs including GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Office suite, and in vivo data capture systems . AI based strategies for in vivo related activities are highly encouraged .

Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills , with evidence of delivery in a team-oriented, collaborative environment . Must be able to balance time at the bench, in the vivarium and project responsibilities. Additional experience desired: Prior experience in biotech or pharma .

Expertise in multiple myeloma, lymphoma, or/and acute myelogenous leukemia biology and/or rodent models . Hands-on e xperience using small animal imaging modalities such as bioluminescence imaging (IVIS) . Strong publication track record . Hands-on e xperience with spectral flow cytometry .

Hands-on e xperience in assay development for complex systems ( ex . in vivo samples, ex vivo 3D cultures, ex vivo co-culture etc.) . As AstraZeneca continues to put patients at the forefront of our mission, we are excited for our move to Kendall Square/Cambridge in 2026.
