- Amazon is seeking an Electrical Installation Lead – Low Voltage Devices & Controls to drive the successful installation, configuration
- validation of field devices and low-voltage control systems for automation and material handling equipment across multiple greenfield and brownfield fulfillment center sites. This role provides field-based technical leadership focused specifically on low-voltage device installation, sensor deployment, VFD configuration, E-stop systems, fieldbus cabling
- device commissioning readiness. The Electrical Installation Lead – Low Voltage Devices & Controls will directly manage installation crews responsible for all field device mounting, wiring, configuration
- validation on MHE systems. This includes photo eyes, proximity sensors, encoders, limit switches, E-stop devices, pull cords, safety devices, scanners, VFDs, I/O blocks, zone controllers, actuators, operator stations, stack lights
- industrial communication/fieldbus cabling (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, EtherCAT, AS-i). You will ensure all devices are installed correctly, parameters are set accurately
- systems are ready for controls commissioning and system energization. This role reports to the Site Deployment Manager and follows the Power Distribution & Infrastructure lead through each zone — your team mobilizes once conduit, panels
- heavy wire are in place. You are the last electrical installation step before controls commissioning, making precision, attention to detail
- commissioning readiness the defining measures of success. Key job responsibilities Device Installation Leadership:
- Lead and manage electrical installation crews focused on low-voltage device installation and configuration for MHE systems across North American facilities
- Direct installation of field devices including photo eyes, proximity sensors, encoders, limit switches, E-stop devices, pull cords, safety devices, and barcode scanners
- Oversee VFD installation, mounting, power connections, and control wiring
- Manage I/O block installation, wiring, and terminal connections per I/O lists and wiring diagrams
- Direct installation of zone controllers, actuators, operator stations, and stack lights
- Oversee E-stop cable system installation including cable runs, tensioning, I-bolt and pulley placement, and pull cord routing
- Manage sensor mounting, orientation, and alignment to ensure proper detection coverage
- Direct 24VDC control circuit wiring, device terminations, and panel-to-device connections
- Oversee fieldbus and industrial communication cabling installation (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, EtherCAT, AS-i) with attention to routing, labeling, addressing
- termination quality Configuration, Commissioning Readiness & QC:
- Manage parameter setting and programming for all field devices including dip switches, photo eye training, sensor calibration, and VFD configuration
- Oversee match-mark cable connections to verify correct device-to-panel wiring
- Lead electrical QC activities including I/O verification — checking for shorts, breaks, stretched wires, and confirming wire labels match drawings
- Manage E-stop system testing and verification across all installed zones
- Verify sensor functionality, detection ranges, and operational parameters before handoff to controls commissioning
- Oversee side cover installation on completed conveyor sections
- Manage electrical device punchlist identification and repair
- Partner with controls commissioning team to validate system readiness for energization
- Ensure cable management, wire labeling, and device labeling meet standards before zone closeout Technical Leadership & Standards:
- Provide technical expertise for low-voltage control systems, 24VDC circuits, field devices, and industrial communication networks
- Review and interpret device layout drawings, I/O lists, wiring diagrams, control panel drawings, and fieldbus addressing schedules
- Follow and help develop device installation standards and best practices
- Create and maintain technical documentation including device installation SOPs, configuration checklists, and QC verification procedures
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve device installation issues that may impact commissioning readiness or system functionality
- Support development of scalable installation practices and field standards across multiple sites
- Recommend and implement process improvements to increase device installation efficiency and first-pass quality Coordination & Communication:
- Coordinate device installation activities with power distribution teams, mechanical installation, controls engineering, IT/network teams, and vendors
- Manage zone sequencing with the Power Distribution & Infrastructure lead — device installation begins once conduit, panels, and wire are in place
- Coordinate with controls commissioning on energization readiness, I/O verification results, and open items
- Track device installation progress, risks, blockers, and quality issues, escalating when support is needed
- Participate in project-level technical reviews, installation readiness reviews, and commissioning readiness reviews
- Manage relationships with device vendors, OEMs, integrators, and internal project stakeholders
- Participate in daily business reviews with installation progress and commissioning readiness updates
- Maintain accurate field documentation including punch lists, issue logs, QC observations
- turnover documentation A day in the life Your day starts at the site coordination meeting where you review which zones have completed power infrastructure installation and are ready for device mobilization. You walk the floor with your device crew — verifying photo eye mounting positions against device layout drawings, checking sensor orientation and alignment
- confirming that I/O blocks are properly wired to the correct panel terminals. You oversee VFD installation and verify that dip switches and parameter settings match the configuration schedule. You check E-stop cable installation — verifying proper tension, I-bolt placement
- pull cord routing meets Amazon safety standards. Mid-day you inspect fieldbus cabling installations, verifying Ethernet/IP or Profinet routing, cable labeling, addressing
- termination quality. By afternoon, you're working with your QC crew to validate I/O verification results — checking for shorts, verifying wire labels match drawings, confirming sensor functionality
- ensuring side cover installations are complete. You coordinate with the controls commissioning team on upcoming energization zones and close out at the daily business review with readiness status and any open items.
