Focus of the Role Own and drive the International Network Security product direction, ensuring secure, resilient and practical controls are embedded across global network infrastructure, international connectivity services and cross-border traffic flows.

Deliver measurable uplift in international network security posture across global environments and connectivity services, including stronger perimeter controls, improved traffic visibility, enhanced detection capability and reduced exposure to network-based threats.
Enable secure-by-design delivery by integrating network security controls into infrastructure platforms, provisioning pipelines and operational workflows, ensuring high-value security outcomes are prioritised and delivered with business and technical stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the International Network Security product roadmap, backlog and delivery priorities in line with security risk, network platform needs and business outcomes.
- Improve visibility of network traffic flows, threat activity and security events across international connectivity and infrastructure.
- Embed network security capabilities into infrastructure provisioning, automation pipelines and engineering workflows.
- Collaborate closely with Network Engineering, Telstra International, Security Operations (SOC), platform teams and cyber security stakeholders to align security requirements with delivery practices.
- Balance risk reduction, performance, cost and operational practicality when prioritising features, controls and enhancements.
- Work with agile delivery teams to ensure high-priority security stories are clearly defined, understood and delivered.
- Use telemetry, threat intelligence and stakeholder feedback to continuously improve the effectiveness and adoption of network security controls.
- Share practices and learnings with product and security peers to support consistency and reuse across the organisation.
- About You Essential Strong understanding of network security principles, including perimeter defence, segmentation and secure connectivity.
- Experience securing network infrastructure and connectivity services across enterprise or telecommunications environments.
- Ability to prioritise and deliver business value while reducing security risk.
- Technical fluency to work effectively with engineers, architects and security specialists.
- Highly desirable Experience with international network architecture, global routing and cross-border connectivity.
- Experience with network segmentation, zero trust principles and secure network design frameworks.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance considerations impacting international data flows or connectivity.
- Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to think analytically, solve problems pragmatically and apply scalable, automated security approaches.
