As the Head of UK Card Accounting (Senior Manager level) , you will be the driving force behind our financial integrity and a key player in the UK Finance Leadership Team . Based in our vibrant Nottingham office, you will lead, inspire, and grow a talented team responsible for all internal and external financial reporting for our UK Card business.
This isn’t a role where you’ll just be maintaining the status quo. You will bring a strategic mindset to the numbers, helping to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for the wider business while fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture.
What you’ll do Lead and Inspire: Manage and nurture the UK Card Accounting team. You’ll be deeply invested in talent development, succession planning, and creating an environment where everyone can do the best work of their careers. Drive Financial Excellence: Oversee the end-to-end delivery of robust internal and external financial reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Think Strategically: Look beyond the immediate ledger. You’ll partner with senior stakeholders across the business to provide commercial context, evaluate strategic initiatives, and influence business-critical decisions. Champion Continuous Improvement: Drive the evolution of our financial processes and controls, leveraging technology (including AI tools) to automate, streamline, and mitigate risk.
Collaborate as a Leader: As a core member of the Finance Leadership Team, you will work closely with the UK CFO and other Finance leaders to help shape the broader culture, strategy, and vision of Finance at Capital One UK. The skills and experience you need A Proven Track Record: You are a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience, ideally within Financial Services or a similarly regulated environment.
People-First Leadership: You have a passion for leadership. You know how to build, motivate, and coach a diverse team, unlocking their potential and fostering collaboration. Strategic Vision: You can effortlessly zoom out from the technical details to see the bigger picture, connecting financial performance to overall business strategy.

Where and how you'll work This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham office . We embrace a hybrid approach to work. You'll spend three days a week in the office (Tuesday-Thursday), with Monday and Friday being dedicated work-from-home days.
