This role will be based out of the Irvine, CA office. Purpose: The Johnson & Johnson MedTech Communications & Public Affairs (MT CPA) team is seeking a senior communications leader to lead global communications and public affairs for J&J MedTech’s Electrophysiology business —a flagship growth platform within the Cardiovascular portfolio.

J&J MedTech is the global leader in the science of heart rhythm management through its Biosense Webster portfolio of products. The company pioneered the first real‑time, 3D cardiac mapping and navigation technology and the first electrophysiology catheter.

Today, the business continues to deliver sustained double‑digit growth , impacting the lives of more than 1.2 million patients annually through life‑changing innovation. You will be responsible for: This Senior Director is accountable for setting and delivering a comprehensive, global communications and public affairs strategy across all stakeholders—including healthcare professionals, customers, employees, media, investors, policymakers, and partners.

Reporting to the Global Head of MedTech Cardiovascular Communications , the role serves as a trusted advisor to the Electrophysiology leadership team and an active member of the cross‑functional business leadership community. The Senior Director will lead and develop a diverse team of communicators , ensuring disciplined execution, creative excellence, and measurable business impact.

More broadly, the role contributes to advancing the effectiveness of the overall MedTech Communications & Public Affairs organization—enhancing connectivity, efficiency, and strategic influence across the function. Key Areas of Accountability The Senior Director will lead integrated communications and public affairs efforts to: Build and protect brand reputation through paid, earned, and owned media, issues management, and public affairs engagement Enable business growth through strategic brand, marketing, and commercial communications aligned to customer and market needs Mobilize strategy and lead through change , activating employee engagement and culture across a rapidly evolving business Advance societal impact through storytelling, partnerships, and programs that reflect J&J MedTech’s purpose and leadership in healthcare innovation Functional Expertise This role requires deep, demonstrated expertise across core communications fields, including: Reputation Management : Strengthens public trust and protects and elevates enterprise reputation.

External Communications & Media Relations : Expert in stakeholder engagement, message development, and navigating complex media environments with sophistication and credibility. Emerging & Digital Media : Stays ahead of evolving channels and integrates new platforms thoughtfully into integrated communications strategies.

Employee Communications : Designs innovative channels and compelling content that inform, inspire, and equip employees. Change & Transformation Communications : Proven experience mobilizing audiences around business strategy, operating model shifts, and large‑scale transformation.

Financial & Issues Communications : Experienced in issues management and communicating with investors and analysts during periods of scrutiny or change. Communications Technology (CommTech) : Leverages modern tools to drive creativity, content creation, measurement, insight, and performance reporting.

Leadership & Enterprise Capabilities The position also demands strong leadership and enterprise competencies, including: Matrix Leadership: Effective operating across geographies, functions, and complex customer ecosystems. Collaboration & Influence: A natural collaborator with a strong track record of aligning diverse collaborators, advancing new approaches, and delivering measurable results.

People Leadership: Proven ability to hire, lead, and develop high‑performing teams through rapid change and ambiguity. Strategic Judgment Under Pressure: Demonstrated capability to synthesize complex, high‑level information and translate it into clear, focused communication in high‑stakes environments.

Trusted Advisor: Deep understanding of business priorities and market dynamics; serves as a close advisor to senior leaders on strategic positioning, reputation, and execution. Executive Communication Skills: Exceptional writing, presentation, storytelling, and project management skills, including strong data visualization capabilities.

External Influence: Ability to shape the external environment, particularly with healthcare professionals and industry partners

Qualifications

  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
