About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior CIB Portfolio Manager to join the Counterparty Credit Management (CCM) – Commodities team within the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Markets division.
The Commodities CCM team serves as the front‑line credit risk function for Wells Fargo’s Commodities Sales & Trading desk, responsible for underwriting, approving, and monitoring counterparty credit exposure across financial and physical commodities products.
Our counterparties include companies who use or deal in commodities, hedge funds, broker‑dealers, commodity trading firms, and other institutional clients
In This Role, You Will
- Lead underwriting, grading
- risk management efforts for a portfolio of counterparties active in financial and physical commodities products with various affiliates of Wells Fargo Recommend and justify credit limits for financial and physical commodities trading businesses, negotiating master documentation, escalating limit exceptions
- reacting to the credit quality of assigned sector(s) Maintain existing portfolio across a broad array of disciplines in keeping with underwriting policies and identified best practices Review and research multifaceted, large-scale
- long-term industry and counterparty business models that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors Make decisions in complex situations requiring exceptional understanding of the function, policies, procedures
- compliance requirements that influence and lead a broader work team to produce deliverables and drive new initiatives Identify opportunities for process improvements within scope of responsibilities or functional area Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues
- mid-level to more experienced managers to resolve issues and achieve goals Lead projects, teams
- serve as a peer mentor Required Qualifications: 4+ years of Experience in CIB Portfolio Management
- equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education Desired Qualifications: Experience with financial and physical commodities products and counterparties active in these products from an underwriting and portfolio management perspective.
- Strong research and business communication skills, including an ability to capture, analyze and succinctly translate data into underwriting memos, white papers
- communications in a timely manner Knowledge of and experience with negotiating credit points in master trading legal documentation (ISDAs, Credit Support Annexes, etc.).
- Experience with financial statement and legal document analysis Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to execute in a fast-paced, high-demand environment while balancing multiple priorities Ability to partner with a wide range of colleagues including sales, trading, legal, market risk, counterparty credit risk, and operations teams Demonstrated commitment to risk management and core values of the organization Personal ability to understand and operate successfully in a complex, heavily matrixed corporate environment Job Expectations: Specific compliance policies may apply regarding outside activities or personal investing
