We are building a new health care model that is easier to use, less expensive, and puts the consumer at the center of their care. Aetna's Medicare Stars Team is growing and expanding! This is exciting opportunity to join a high performing, collaborative team as a Senior Data Engineer.
This individual will focus on evolving the Stars Data Engine to a new Ecosystem that allows for expanding our data ingestion footprint while increasing data security, reducing data replication and becoming more real-time solution related to the data outputs.
This position will manage and be responsible for the successful delivery of large-scale data structures and Pipelines and efficient Extract/Load/Transform (ETL) workflows. Acts as a data engineering contributor for large and complex projects involving multiple resources and tasks and provides guidance and direction in support of company objectives.
This individual will need to apply Rapid Application Development and Lean techniques in order to direct work assignments and provide mentoring to junior staff to successfully direct the improvements to the Data Engine Framework to support the constituent needs of the various Medicare Business units.
The individual will help manage the evolution to a self-organizing, cross functional team structure that leverages iterative Delivery Processes with a focus on continuous delivery of valuable software. Fundamental Components: Analyze data science, engineering, business and other data processing problems to implement and improve computer systems.
Perform advanced SQL and SAS Programming in data warehouse environment including use of different analysis techniques or business intelligence application development. Manage, build, enhance, architect and maintain the Medicare Stars Data Engine.
Process large data sets through complex ETL to our Medicare Star Data Engine. Explore, examine, and interpret large volumes of data in various forms. Perform analysis of structured and unstructured data to solve moderately complex business problems.
End to end testing of the Medicare Stars data warehouse data and implementing appropriate validation controls to control data quality. Develop automated data quality scripts to ensure the data integrity and completeness of the data. Design and conduct analysis and outcome studies using healthcare claims, pharmacy, and lab data, employing appropriate research designs and statistical methods.
Develop, validate, and execute algorithms, data models and reporting tools that answer applied research and business questions for internal and external clients. Define and deliver analytical solutions in support of healthcare business initiatives that drive short and long-term objectives.
Applies understanding of key business drivers to accomplish own work. Uses expertise, judgment, and precedents to contribute to the resolution of moderately complex problems. Writes ETL (Extract / Transform / Load) processes, designs database systems and develops tools for real-time and offline analytic processing.
Collaborate with client team to transform data and integrate algorithms and models into automated processes. Build data marts and data models to support clients and other internal customers. Integrate data from a variety of sources, assuring that they adhere to data quality and accessibility standards.
Fundamental Job Components 5 + years of experience working in SQL Server/SSIS or another Relational Database platform 5+ years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, machine learning, or healthcare analytics. 5 + years of experience working with Microsoft.Net, Visual Studio, ASP, C# and other advanced programming languages Experience communicating technical ideas and results to non-technical clients in written and verbal form.
Experience leveraging multiple tools and programming languages to analyze and manipulate large data sets from disparate data sources. Demonstrated experience understanding and building complex systems, with the ability to solve challenging analytical problems.
Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and analytics environments, such as Azure, GCP, Snowflake, or Databricks. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with proven effectiveness working across teams and stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications 5 + years of experience using python/Java languages or any other major languages to build robust data pipelines and dynamic systems. 5 + years of experience supporting healthcare quality programs, value-based care initiatives, population health management, or Medicare/Medicaid programs Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, HealthCare Informatics, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Machine Learning, or related discipline.
Anticipated Weekly Hours 40 Time Type Full time Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $92,700.00 - $185,400.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.
The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
