Our analytics team supporting HEDIS Stars measures and Population Health is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to advance Stars Population Health strategy and operations.
This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical curiosity who thrives on exploring complex data, uncovering actionable insights, and shaping strategies that deliver measurable healthcare outcomes. The Lead Data Scientist will support Humana's Stars Population Health strategy by developing advanced analytics solutions that enhance member engagement, address gaps in care, and improve Stars performance.
This is a remote work opportunity; however, the role will align to Eastern Standard Time business hours. The Lead Data Scientist applies mathematics, statistics, predictive modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform large volumes of complex healthcare data into actionable analytic solutions.
Responsibilities include the following: Develop, maintain, and collect structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting. Create reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business objectives. Build member-level predictive models, developing segmentation strategies, and evaluating the impact of Stars Population Health initiatives on performance.
Deep dive into membership data to understand, model, and segment members for outreach and initiatives as well as support the efforts to increase the number of members having an Annual Preventive Visit. Partner closely with Stars business leaders, Population Health stakeholders, and analytics teammates to connect Population Health strategies to broader Stars measures priorities.
Use your skills to make an impact Required Qualifications Master's Degree and 4 years of experience 2 or more years project leadership experience Experience in healthcare analytics Proficiency with Python, PySpark, and SQL. Experience working with large datasets in a cloud-based analytics environment.
Experience using mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions Experience developing structured and unstructured data sets for analysis Experience creating reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business Preferred Qualifications Experience developing member-level predictive models or intervention targeting strategies.
Familiarity with Agile ways of working by adapting to changing priorities. Experience measuring program effectiveness, defining leading indicators, and developing performance benchmarks. Work-At-Home Requirements To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associate connectivity, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria: We recommend a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps; a wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is also recommended Leadership approval required for satellite, cellular and microwave connection.
We will provide associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense. Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the requirements for their position/job.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.
Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Pay Range The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc. $142,300 - $195,700 per year This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
