Since 2015, we've lent over $21 billion across the UK and US, helped create more than 58,000 new homes and 36,000 new jobs, and supported hundreds of thousands of personal savers — all while driving economic growth in the markets we serve.
ABOUT THE TEAM The Client Onboarding team is responsible for delivering a smooth, exceptional onboarding experience for OakNorth's commercial clients. Our Quality Control function sits at the heart of this, ensuring AML/KYC CDD assessments meet regulatory standards while enabling the business to onboard clients efficiently and confidently.
We work closely with our UK-based and offshore onboarding colleagues to maintain consistent standards across borders. ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Quality Control team within Client Onboarding.
You'll conduct quality reviews of AML/KYC CDD assessments, provide constructive feedback to the onboarding team, and help drive continuous improvement — all while ensuring regulatory requirements are met and client experience is never compromised.
This is a hands-on role best suited to someone with strong AML/KYC experience who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. WHAT YOU'LL DO Conduct AML CDD quality assurance reviews for both new-to-bank and existing customers. Support AML CDD quality reviews for commercial business loan origination and Business Banking account set-up.
Work collaboratively with the UK-based offshore onboarding team to support quality control activities, contributing to consistent AML/KYC standards and effective cross-border delivery. Provide constructive, high-quality feedback on CDD assessments to support learning and continuous improvement within the onboarding team.
Communicate clearly and professionally to manage expectations and maintain momentum across onboarding activities. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AML/KYC requirements and act as a point of reference for QC-related queries. Operate in line with the Bank's Risk Management Framework and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and ways of working; support the QC Lead on transformation and change initiatives. Complete BAU, ad hoc administrative, and project-related tasks as needed. YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU HAVE… 5+ years' experience in financial services, ideally within commercial banking or lending, with strong working knowledge of AML/KYC including CDD and EDD.
Experience reviewing complex corporate structures, including non-transparent jurisdictions such as trusts and offshore entities (e.g. BVI, Channel Islands, Cayman Islands). Familiarity with financial crime prevention controls and regulatory expectations.
Strong attention to detail, confident written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality work consistently under competing priorities. Proactive, resilient, and organised — able to work independently and collaboratively, managing workloads effectively to meet deadlines and service-level expectations.
Nice to Have ICA or ACAMS qualification. Working knowledge of AEOI and FSCS requirements. Experience working with private equity or real estate investment vehicles. Ability to understand and interpret financial statements. Advanced Excel skills.
