Job Title: Operations Automation Engineer Job Category: Information Technology Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: TS/SCI Employee Type: Regular-Long Term Assignment Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10% Type of Travel: Local * * * The Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated Automation Engineer to support enterprise IT operations through the design, development, and implementation of automation solutions across a large-scale Department of Defense environment.
Design and implement enterprise automation solutions that streamline operations and improve service reliability. Develop and maintain automated workflows supporting infrastructure, platform, and service management functions. Collaborate with technical teams to identify automation opportunities and optimize operational processes.
Support modernization initiatives through orchestration, workflow automation, and systems integration. Drive continuous improvement efforts by leveraging automation technologies to increase efficiency and reduce risk. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain automation workflows using System Center Orchestrator (SCORCH), Ansible, and other enterprise automation platforms.
Create and maintain automated runbooks that support infrastructure, application, and operational processes. Develop scripts and automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages. Integrate automation platforms with ServiceNow, XSOAR, VMware, monitoring systems, databases, and enterprise applications.
Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and platform teams to automate routine operational tasks. Support the AFRICOM Automation Working Group and identify opportunities to expand automation capabilities across the enterprise.
Implement workflow automation supporting incident response, service requests, provisioning, compliance activities, and system maintenance. Troubleshoot automation failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. Maintain technical documentation, workflow diagrams, standard operating procedures, and automation design artifacts.
Ensure automation solutions comply with DoD cybersecurity requirements, STIG compliance standards, and operational policies. Participate in testing, change management, and deployment activities for new automation solutions. Monitor automation performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to operations teams regarding automation capabilities and best practices. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience may be substituted.
Minimum of 3 years of experience developing and supporting enterprise automation solutions. Experience with System Center Orchestrator (SCORCH) or similar orchestration and workflow automation platforms. Experience with PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages used for systems automation.
Experience automating Windows and Linux server administration tasks. Experience integrating automation platforms with APIs, databases, ServiceNow, monitoring tools, or enterprise management systems. Working knowledge of VMware virtual infrastructure environments.
Understanding of ITIL service management processes, including incident, change, and problem management. Experience supporting enterprise environments with security and compliance requirements. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Active Security+ certification (or ability to obtain within required timeframe). One or more industry certifications related to Microsoft, VMware, Red Hat, Automation, Cloud, or Cybersecurity technologies.
Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance. Desired Experience with Ansible Automation Platform. Experience with Palo Alto Cortex XSOAR or security orchestration technologies. Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or federal government environments.

Pay Range : There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
