We are looking for an experienced Sr. Software Development Manager to lead the Ground Software and Analytics team and help us build this service from the ground up. performance across the Leo constellation. * Partner with engineers on the team to define, evaluate
productionize machine-learned anomaly detection tools, predictive maintenance workflows
automated remediation applications. * Own the full software development lifecycle for the team -- including design, code review, testing, deployment, mission integration
operational support -- holding a high technical bar at every stage. * Represent Ground Software and Analytics in cross-organizational forums, partnering with Leo leadership, RF and systems engineers, hardware suppliers
ground modem software teams to influence prioritization, resolve dependencies
align on technical direction. * Drive operational excellence -- establish and own team-level availability and reliability goals, lead post-incident reviews
champion continuous improvement across all Ground Software and Analytics systems. * Define team goals and success metrics, translating organizational strategy into clear quarterly and annual plans that your team can execute against with confidence. A day in the life In this role as a Sr. Software Development Manager, you will balance technical leadership with people management to deliver systems that are critical to the uptime and performance of Leo ground terminals worldwide. A typical day may include reviewing system design documents with your engineers, aligning on roadmap priorities with Leo Ground Systems leadership
partnering with engineers on the team to evaluate a new anomaly detection model heading toward production. You will lead hiring loops, provide feedback on architectural tradeoffs
ensure your team has the clarity and resources to execute without unnecessary friction. You will work closely with SEIT engineers and hardware suppliers to define software interfaces and drive ground systems integration. When incidents arise, you will lead the response — coordinating across teams, driving root cause analysis
ensuring the learnings translate into durable operational improvements. Your contributions

Is Responsible For: * Ground operations automation/orchestration * Design, development, deployment
support of a Tier 1 Monitoring and Remediation System (MARS) needed to maintain high availability of hundreds of ground terminals deployed around the world * Ground systems integration/test (I&T) automation * Ground terminal configuration, provisioning
acceptance automation * Systems analysis * Algorithm development (pointing/tracking/calibration/monitoring) * Software interface definition for supplier-provided hardware and development of software test automation * Ground SW vision and AI integration About the team The Leo Ground Systems Engineering team is responsible for the development, deployment
long-term performance optimization of Leo satellite ground terminals located around the world (Gateway and Telemetry, Tracking
Command (TT&C)). Ground terminals include full-motion parabolic antennas, radio frequency spectrum monitoring, terminal monitoring and control
fault management systems. These software-driven distributed systems form the communications backbone for the Leo constellation and must provide the world-class reliability, uptime
performance our customers expect from Amazon. The Ground Software and Analytics team sits at the heart of this mission — owning the software systems, analytical tools
automation that keep ground terminals operating at peak performance across the globe.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering
related field - 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated depth in designing and operating distributed systems - 3+ years of engineering people management experience, including hiring, developing
performance managing SDEs - Experience owning and delivering software products or services end-to-end, from design through production operations - Experience communicating technical strategy and tradeoffs clearly to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders
Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering
a related technical field - Experience building or operating software systems in satellite, RF
aerospace domains - Experience partnering with engineers to bring ML-powered products from research into production - Experience leading teams that own Tier 1 or mission-critical services with strict availability and reliability requirements - Experience defining software interfaces for supplier-provided or third-party hardware systems - Familiarity with ground systems architecture, including monitoring and control, fault management
