Cigna, a leading Health Services company, is looking for an exceptional Back end and API engineer in our Provider Engineering organization. This position is responsible for the delivery of a business need starting from understanding the requirements to deploying the software into production.
This role requires you to be fluent in some of the critical technologies with proficiency in others, with a very strong analytical aptitude and have a hunger to learn on the job, understand data and add value to the business. Critical attributes of being a Back End Engineer, among others, is ownership, eagerness to learn & an open mindset.
In addition to delivery, the role demands having an automation first and continuous improvement mindset. The candidate should drive the adoption of CI/CD tools and support the improvement of the tools sets/processes. improvement of the tools sets/processes.

This individual will be working on several of the largest Technology initiatives for Evernorth targeted at revolutionizing Health Services and Healthcare Delivery system in the United States.
The focus of the work is to continue to enhance Evernorth’s market winning capabilities in the Behavioral Health and Care Solutions space. The Technology strategy is completely aligned to our business strategy and the candidate will be able to influence technology\business direction within a world class Delivery Vertical.
The solution focuses on enabling this change through the use of the latest technologies and development techniques. Responsibilities Design, develop, test and maintain complex software solutions. Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Develop engineering solutions in alignment with the Technology strategy and meeting application’s requirements as well as industry standard best practices. Maximize the efficiency (operational, performance, and cost) of the application assets.
Sizes User Stories based on time / difficulty to complete. Provides input on specific challenges facing User Stories. Discuss risks, dependencies, and assumptions. Determine if User Stories meet the Definition of Ready Selects User Stories to be completed in the Iteration, based on User Story priority and team capacity and velocity.
Breaks User Stories into tasks. Participates in the confidence vote. Participate in the daily stand up Qualifications Education: College degree (Bachelor) in related technical/business areas or equivalent work experience. Experience: 11 – 13 years of experience Proven experience delivering complex software solutions.
Familiarity with agile methodology including SCRUM team
Skills
- Behavioral Health Delivery teams technical qualifications: should have proficiency in: UniData , UniBasic , Pick Basic, JSON, SQL, and Unix.
- Familiarity with modern delivery practices such as continuous integration, behavior/test driven development, and specification by example.
- Proven experience with architecture, design, and development of large-scale enterprise application solutions.
