  • Role and Impact:
  • The Global Digital Team, including Digital Data Platforms and Digital Experiences, is a fast-growing global function at BlackRock which seeks to engage a multi-trillion-dollar audience of investors, advisors, and institutions with our diverse range of investment products.   • As we take an innovative approach for our clients, we are building out our team, and we’re looking for an A-player to join our Digital Experiences global team.
  • Primary responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of frontend and full stack developers, ensuring high-quality code and following established guidelines.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers and collaborators to translate business requirement into technical solutions.
  • Being involved in inception to delivery of various features and products on a dedicated and exciting product roadmap
  • Architect, design and implement scalable, secure and high-performing applications.
  • Oversee end-to-end development lifecycle : coding, testing, deployment and support.
  • Review code, provide feedback, and enforce coding standards.
  • Evaluate and implement new tools, framework and technologies to optimize development processes.
  • Willing to embrace work outside of your comfort zone, and open to mentorship from others; you make mistakes, but learn from them
  • Ensure system performance, reliability and security across applications.
  • Fix and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner
  • Promote continuous learning and innovation within the team
  • Team Leadership:
  • Position the team for leadership in emerging areas such as AI, personalization, and dynamic digital experiences on web and mobile apps
  • Lead a team of 5 engineers – growing to 8
  • Provide technical leadership and career growth for the engineers
  • Build talent pipeline with external and internal candidates
  • Build an engineering network across BlackRock
  • Project Leadership:
  • Ownership approach, Agile product development practices
  • Collaborate with global partners, product managers, designers and other engineering leaders in the organization
  • Deliver complex digital projects on time and with high level of quality
  • Is a must:
  • 7+ years hands-on Java development experience with distributed system designs and Java application servers (Java‑based web application runtime environments, Spring Framework)
  • Strong hands‑on expertise in React.js, with experience building scalable, performant, and accessible web applications.
  • Strong hands‑on Java development experience, crafting and implementing backend services and APIs in enterprise‑scale environments.
  • Experience with Test Driven Development (JUnit, TestNG, EasyMock, JMock)
  • Experience supporting Unix/Linux platforms
  • Exposure to building microservices and APIs ideally with REST, distributed event streaming and messaging platforms or gRPC.
  • Experience with relational database and/or NoSQL Database (e.g., highly available distributed NoSQL data storage platforms)
  • Exposure to high scale distributed technology like distributed event streaming and messaging platforms, Mongo, Ignite, Redis.
  • Experience with the RESTful Services and Rest APIs.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/ TypeScript and experience of at least one JavaScript libraries like rxjs or ngrx
  • Experience with HTML and CSS preprocessors like SASS, LESS etc.
  • Proven experience with AI‑assisted software development, including practical use of modern AI tools to accelerate development, testing, and code review.
  • Proven experience line‑managing engineering teams, including performance management, coaching, hiring, and career development.
  • Ability to operate effectively as a hands‑on technical leader while setting direction and standards for a senior engineering organization.
  • Ability of writing clean, future proof code with proper unit testing
  • Knowledge of at least one distributed version control system ideally Git
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Willing to work with global project teams spread across several time zones
  • Understanding the Agile project management fields, with an emphasis on Scrum
  • Strong partnership, communication, and time management abilities
  • Is a plus:
  • Knowledge and curiosity about the financial services industry domain
  • Good understanding of designing and architecture of applications, according to web standards, security standards
  • Experience with Open Container Initiative (OCI) container image packaging and runtime/Enterprise-grade container orchestration platform supporting declarative infrastructure and horizontal scaling and application packaging and deployment configuration frameworks
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or equivalent experience
  • Exposure to CI/CD
  • Experience with AI-related projects/products or experience working in an AI research environment.
