Position Summary The Cigna Group is seeking a strategic and innovative Senior Accounting Manager to join our Cigna Investment Management (CIM) Accounting organization. This highly visible leadership role combines technical investment accounting expertise with process transformation, technology enablement, and operational excellence responsibilities.
The successful candidate will oversee accounting and financial reporting activities for Cigna's partnership investment portfolio while helping drive the evolution of the CIM Accounting operating model. This role will partner closely with Investment Front Office, Investment Operations, Technology, and Global Operations teams to enhance processes, implement new technologies, and improve scalability, efficiency, and reporting quality across the organization.

Key Responsibilities Transformation & Operational Excellence Drive process improvement initiatives focused on increasing efficiency, scalability, control effectiveness, and reporting quality.
Partner with Global Operations teams to transition accounting and reporting activities, streamline processes, and support the development of sustainable operating models. Identify opportunities to reduce manual activities, standardize workflows, and improve data quality across the organization.
Lead initiatives that strengthen operational performance and support the long-term growth of the investment accounting function. Technology & Innovation Lead and participate in strategic projects, including the implementation and enhancement of accounting, reporting, and investment subledger systems.
Evaluate and implement automation opportunities, AI-enabled solutions, and emerging technologies to improve accounting operations and reporting processes. Partner with Technology teams to define future-state accounting capabilities and support broader finance transformation initiatives.
Champion innovative solutions that reduce operational risk and create efficiencies across the accounting organization. Investment Accounting & Financial Reporting Lead accounting and financial reporting activities for Cigna's partnership investment portfolio.
Oversee quarterly and annual GAAP and statutory reporting deliverables, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable accounting and regulatory guidance. Review and analyze complex investment transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
Partner with Investment Front Office, Investment Operations, Finance, Tax, Actuarial, and external auditors to support financial reporting, disclosures, audits, and business initiatives. Provide technical accounting guidance and serve as a key resource on investment accounting matters.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management Lead, develop, and mentor a team of accounting professionals. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation. Build strong partnerships across Accounting, Finance, Technology, Investment Management, and Global Operations teams to deliver strategic objectives.
Effectively manage competing priorities while influencing stakeholders across multiple functions and organizational levels. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred. 8+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience leading teams and managing complex accounting processes. Demonstrated success leading process improvement, technology implementation, or transformation initiatives.
Strong analytical, communication, project management, and stakeholder management skills. Familiarity with automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled technologies. Experience with partnership investments, alternative investments, or insurance investment accounting.
Knowledge of statutory accounting and insurance industry reporting requirements. Experience implementing accounting systems, investment subledgers, or finance transformation initiatives. Experience working with global operations or shared service organizations.
This position supports Cigna Investments, Inc., an investment adviser registered with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”). The successful candidate will become an Access Person of CII required to comply with the personal trading requirements and restrictions contained in CII’s Code of Ethics.
These requirements and restrictions apply to the Access Person and all securities transactions in accounts in which an Access Person has a Beneficial Interest. For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 121,100 - 201,900 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location. This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
