Position Summary The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, data integration frameworks, and cloud-based data solutions that support analytics, reporting, operational, and machine learning initiatives.
This role collaborates with business partners, data scientists, analysts, architects, and application teams to ensure the availability, reliability, quality, and performance of enterprise data assets. The Sr. Data Engineer provides technical leadership on complex data initiatives, drives data engineering best practices, and mentors junior team members while contributing to strategic data platform modernization efforts.
Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, data warehousing, or related disciplines. Strong experience designing and implementing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions. Advanced proficiency in SQL and at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, or Scala.
Experience working with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, Azure, Snowflake, or GCP. Hands-on experience with distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark. Experience with relational and non-relational databases, data lakes, and modern data warehousing solutions.
Knowledge of data governance, data quality, metadata management, and security best practices. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to lead technical initiatives, influence cross-functional teams, and mentor less experienced engineers.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with healthcare, insurance, or highly regulated industries. Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse, or similar modern analytical platforms. Familiarity with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps practices.
Experience supporting data science, machine learning, or AI workloads. Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka or equivalent event-driven architectures. Cloud platform certifications (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). Big data and data engineering certifications such as DASCA Associate Big Data Engineer (ABDE) or related credentials.
Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-scale data modernization initiatives Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Master's degree in a related discipline is preferred. Relevant technical certifications may be considered in lieu of certain educational requirements. Anticipated Weekly Hours 40 Time Type Full time Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $83,430.00 - $166,860.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.
The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
