Job Title: SME Engineering (Group 4) Travel: Local * * * The Opportunity: CACI is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Engineer Group 4 to support a mission-critical program focused on combating evolving and emerging threats through advanced engineering, technology innovation, and operational experimentation.

This initiative encompasses exploitation and replication activities, operational rehearsal, exercise support, wargaming, counter-system development, and the integration and experimentation of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) capabilities. As a recognized technical expert, you will provide engineering leadership and specialized expertise in the design, development, integration, and evaluation of advanced electronic and mechanical systems supporting national security missions.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, government customers, and program leadership to develop innovative solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and strengthen Warfighter readiness. By joining this team, you will play a key role in advancing the U.S. and its allies' ability to develop, integrate, and apply models and simulations throughout the lifecycle of military and commercial technologies and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical authority and subject matter expert for engineering efforts supporting complex defense and national security programs.
  • Lead the research, design, development, integration, testing, and evaluation of advanced electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and engineering oversight throughout the system development lifecycle, from concept development through deployment and sustainment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions supporting Modeling & Simulation (M&S), experimentation, operational rehearsal, and wargaming initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend technical approaches to address evolving mission requirements.
  • Support system architecture development, engineering trade studies, technical risk assessments, and design reviews.
  • Develop and review engineering documentation, technical reports, requirements, specifications, and test plans.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Interface with government customers, program leadership, and external stakeholders to communicate technical recommendations and project status.
  • Ensure engineering products comply with applicable standards, quality requirements, and security regulations

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical discipline including: Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering Architecture or Architectural Engineering Chemistry Mathematics Operations Research Physics Meteorology/Atmospheric Sciences Or another accredited engineering or technical discipline Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience with a bachelor's degree
  • 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design, development, integration, testing, or sustainment of complex engineering systems.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), or other federal government engineering programs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical leadership, and communication skills.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Desired Master's degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Physics, Operations Research, or another related technical discipline.
  • Experience supporting Modeling & Simulation (M&S), digital engineering, systems engineering, experimentation, or wargaming initiatives.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and the systems development lifecycle.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and mentoring technical staff.

  • Pay Range : There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
