Job Overview The Project Financial Analyst (PFM) provides financial oversight and strategic support for assigned multi-country, multi-service projects. This role partners closely with Project Managers and Finance stakeholders to ensure project financial performance is effectively monitored, risks are identified and mitigated, and financial objectives related to profitability, forecasting, and cash flow are achieved.
The role also contributes to process improvements, capability development, and global finance initiatives that enhance overall project financial management excellence. Key Responsibilities Project Financial Management Perform monthly financial reviews of assigned projects, including budget monitoring, variance analysis, revenue assessment, and identification of financial risks and issues.
Partner with Project Managers to review project budgets, mitigate revenue and billing risks, and drive timely and accurate budget revisions. Validate budget revisions for completeness and adequacy, ensuring all project activities, unbilled items, and financial impacts are appropriately captured throughout the project lifecycle.
Review and validate monthly backlog phasing to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project forecasts. Monitor project and client financial performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions where required. Support Project Managers with financial insights, reporting, and analysis to facilitate effective decision-making and client communication.
Participate in client meetings to support financial discussions, address queries, and provide project financial expertise. Financial Controls & Business Partnership Collaborate with Finance teams and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve system, process, and data issues impacting project financial performance.
Ensure compliance with financial policies, revenue recognition principles, and project finance best practices. Proactively identify financial issues and implement mitigating actions to protect project profitability and cash flow. Support forecasting activities, financial planning, and backlog management to improve business visibility and decision-making.
Training, Development & Leadership Provide financial guidance, coaching, and training to Project Managers to strengthen financial management capabilities and client-facing financial discussions. Mentor new team members and support onboarding and development activities across the PFM organization.
Participate in recruitment activities, including candidate interviews and selection processes. Review and enhance Project Financial Management training materials and development plans to ensure continued relevance and effectiveness. Continuous Improvement & Global Initiatives Contribute to and lead global initiatives aimed at improving project financial management processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
Drive continuous process improvement activities to enhance accuracy, consistency, and scalability across the PFM function. Support global PFM team objectives and provide ad hoc financial analysis and project support as required. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications Required Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline. Minimum 3 years of experience in Accounting, Project Finance, Financial Analysis, or a related financial role.
Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered. Required Knowledge & Skills Strong understanding of project financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, backlog management, cash flow monitoring, and revenue recognition.
Experience identifying financial risks and implementing corrective actions to improve project performance. Familiarity with PeopleSoft Project modules or equivalent project finance systems. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across Finance, Project Management, and client teams.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a global, cross-functional environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting complex, multi-country and multi-service projects. Previous experience partnering directly with Project Managers and client-facing teams.
Exposure to process improvement initiatives, transformation projects, or global finance programs. Experience mentoring colleagues or contributing to team development activities.
