We Deliver – Together. The Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Director, Finance to provide strategic financial leadership for Australia Defence & Security Solutions (ADSS). This pivotal role will partner with executive and operational leaders to drive business performance, support sustainable growth, and enable informed commercial decision-making across a complex project-based environment.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will oversee financial strategy, planning, performance management, governance, and commercial finance activities across the business. You will provide critical insights that shape investment decisions, improve operational outcomes, and strengthen financial discipline.

Leading a team of finance professionals, you will champion a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and commercial excellence while ensuring strong financial controls and compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity and can be based in Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney or Adelaide. The successful candidate must hold a Baseline security clearance or higher

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and commercial insight to support ADSS business objectives, growth priorities, and operational performance.
  • Partner with executive and operational leaders to drive informed decision-making, improve profitability, and identify business opportunities.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and performance management activities across the business.
  • Provide financial oversight of major programs, projects, and customer contracts, supporting commercial outcomes and effective risk management.
  • Deliver analysis and insights that identify trends, opportunities, and improvement initiatives to enhance business performance.
  • Maintain strong financial governance, controls, compliance frameworks, and reporting standards.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of accurate financial reporting to senior leadership and corporate stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, systems, reporting capability, and automation initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team while building capability and succession pathways.
  • Build trusted relationships across the business and influence outcomes through clear financial advice and commercial recommendations.
  • Champion a culture of safety, integrity, accountability, and responsible stewardship of company resources.
  • As the ideal candidate you will bring: Essential Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • CA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Significant experience in senior finance leadership roles within a complex project-based, services, or commercial environment.
  • Proven ability to partner with executive leaders to drive business performance and strategic outcomes.
  • Strong expertise across financial planning, forecasting, reporting, commercial management, and financial governance.
  • Demonstrated experience managing significant budgets and delivering measurable financial outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance.
  • Desirable Experience within Defence, Defence Industry, government, professional services, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting business transformation, growth initiatives, and organisational change.
  • Knowledge of project accounting, contract management, and earned value management principles.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience operating within a matrixed or global organisation.
  • All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance.
