About The Role

As the Head of Retail Americas, you will be part of the Americas Direct Leadership Team, reporting to the VP of Dyson Direct Americas. As a senior member of this team, you will be expected to contribute to shaping overall Americas Direct Vision, Strategy and Culture.

You will have full accountability for directing all retail operations and staff, providing leadership and managing all stores to maintain growth and profitability. You will be tasked with achieving maximum operational effectiveness and efficiency and delivering a seamless and satisfying customer experience while maintaining our global vision for retail.

We have ambitious growth plans for our Direct Retail portfolio which include Flagship, boutique stores and a Retail and Service concepts amongst others where our teams will be responsible for creating a seamless and consistent Dyson Experience to capture the hearts and minds of our owners.

We are looking for creativity, a free thinker, and someone who knows how to use their retail space to educate and excite people about technology and our machines. Shape our Direct Retail strategy and portfolio, thinking and acting as a P&L owner Create and regularly revisit the Dyson’s retail strategy for the Americas, inclusive of potential new locations, ongoing network optimization and investments, and testing new formats.

Use open feedback mechanisms with the operations team and other departments to ensure integration of the Direct Retail strategy into the plans and objectives of the Direct function as well as all functional teams involved. Translate the strategic goals into retail operational and financial plans to achieve the required targeted growth in customer experience, sales and profit.

Influence and support the retail element of the annual budget process ensuring understanding and buy in from the leadership team; Constantly review financial data and work with the Store Managers to provide the right balance between aspirational and realistic targets for both the annual budget and monthly forecasts.

Monitor ongoing performance and proactively find opportunities and tackle gaps. Comfortable engaging and collaborating with senior executives including Global C-level and shareholders. Think and act as a P&L owner, ensuring consistency across the multiple elements of the integrated plan from top line growth and margins to SG&A, and assortment and marketing plans.

Implement a model of operational excellence across our Direct Retail network Develop and maintain a structured yet flexible learning agenda underpinned by tactical optimizations and longer-range programs that keep our retail experiences and business at the forefront of the market.

Spend time on the ground with retail store teams and customers to understand and identify business critical issues in order to ensure the alignment of tactics and strategies. Support Store Managers in making decisions on matters relating to the day-to-day retail operation within their defined work area, including the strategic planning of resources.

Supervise the retail operations team and their management of on-going store operations opportunities and issues (e.g. repairs, utilities, maintenance, POS rollouts/ changes, etc.); team also oversees support of local office facilities. Ensure that the retail operation complies to all policies and procedures relating to Security, Health and Safety; influence any changes necessary to meet statutory requirements, ensuring minimum risk to staff members and the business.

Ensure Store visual merchandising is compliant with Global Creative guidelines; conduct quarterly audits to maintain visual standards in collaboration with retail marketing. Enable consumer impact, efficiency and productivity via localization in coordination with Global leadership and initiatives.

Maintain and constantly develop innovative and cost-effective stock generation; monitor stock weekly to achieve bottom line sales budget against monthly targets. Partner with IT regarding any required changes or upgrades to store POS or IT systems.

Lead and develop a team of high performing team Work with the HR Business Partner and team to ensure people development and growth is a priority, that people management issues are satisfactorily resolved and relevant HR policies and procedures are adhered to.

Take a lead role in building a strong customer service and sales management culture with the operations team; spend time coaching Store Managers, identifying skills and opportunities for development; provide advice and guidance on staff issues when needed Proactively manage and review the performance and progress of Store Managers and their staff, set objectives and targets; work with Training Manager to develop individual training plans for the team About You: 10 years’ management experience in retail stores required 5 years’ experience managing multiple retail stores in the US market required Experience in planning leading to operational excellence required Experience managing a P & L required Must have a high level of customer focus Ability to understand the Dyson brand and uphold its integrity Strong organizational skills, able to deal with multiple tasks simultaneously Must be a highly motivated, enthusiastic team player, driven by creating innovative customer experience Dynamic, driven, energetic, engaging and ability to think strategically, analytically and operationally to drive strong plans and results An innovative thinker who enjoys learning and solving problems, able to successfully collaborate cross-functionally to achieve business objectives Able to motivate, inspire, and lead a growing team in an ever-changing business environment Expert people developer with an emphasis on leading vs. managing Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all audiences and levels of leadership; able to build strong relationships with all types of people.

Comfortable engaging and collaborating with senior executives including Global C-level and shareholders. Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred. Master’s Degree is a plus. Able to travel up to 50% of the time required. Able to work a varied schedule including key shopping holidays, nights and weekends if needed.
